"Liberty did a fantastic job addressing the leaking roof of our 100+ year old craftsman cottage. I had anticipated a full replacement of its 15 year old metal roof, but on inspecting the existing installation, Liberty recommended a reconditioning plan that allowed us to utilize the remaining life of the existing metal. The work was executed Professionally, quickly, safely, and quietly at a fraction of the cost of a new roof."

"Mr Nettles (T-Roy) responded immediately to our inquiry, met us without delays and provided a complete, official, professional estimate before leaving at the end of the appointment....exceeded the timely response time from the other 3 contractors that I had contacted. The Scope of Work exceeded ALL county codes and met Bronze Fortified Standards, if we opted to obtain the certificate. He met the minimum projected time to begin the work. The Crew was punctual to start the work, had maximum daily productivity despite weather challenges. They took pride in their work and confided that they enjoyed working for a company that used such high quality materials and the expected high quality standards from each of them. When the work was complete, the Crew's clean-up was beyond reproach. I would recommend T-Roy to anyone that wants a responsive, quality roofing job because of the materials used, quality workmanship, timely completion as stated in the contract, and customer care."

"3/17/2020-After roof was completed, porch lights were tripping the electrical breaker. Asked Adam Pollock (sales rep) to identify/correct problem caused by roofers. Adam asked my hired contractor, Addam White of Common Sense Construction to troubleshoot the problem before replacing the wood porch ceiling. Common Sense Construction was not licensed to repair electricity and was unable to identify or correct the problem. 4/22/2020-Phone calls and text messages to Adam Pollock did not resolve the issue. Adam Pollock said he was having issues with a "pinched nerve". 4/27/2020-Having waited over a month, I hired a licensed/bonded electrical company to fix the problem for $125/hour. Adam Pollock also found minor issues on another portion of the roof (documented on a youtube video) and said he would take care of them because correction would only take 15 minutes. Adam Pollock said he was waiting for an MRI. POINTS BEING: 1) DON'T PROMISE WHAT YOU DON'T DELIVER. 2) IF YOU CAN'T COMPLETE THE WORK, YOUR RESPONSIBILITY IS TO SEND SOMEONE ON YOUR BEHALF WHO CAN. 3) CUSTOMERS HIRE COMPANIES TO SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS (roof leak), NOT TO HEAR YOURS (medical issues). 4) CUSTOMERS PAY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND DON'T EXPECT YOU TO CAUSE THE NEXT ONE (electrical)."

FAQs for wood shake or composite roofing installation and replacement projects in Summerdale, AL

Cedar shakes and wood shingles might seem similar, but they have some important differences. Cedar shakes are hand-split, giving them a unique, textured appearance that adds rustic charm to your roof. They're great for homeowners who want a distinctive look. Wood shingles, conversely, are machine-made, providing a smooth, uniform appearance for a more modern look. Shakes tend to be more expensive due to the craftsmanship involved but offer exceptional beauty and resilience.

A well-maintained cedar shake roof can last up to 60 years. However, factors like severe weather and improper ventilation can reduce its lifespan. You should consider replacing your roof if you notice persistent leaks, visible water damage, curling or splitting shakes, moss growth, rot, or missing shakes. Regular inspections can help you determine when it's time for a replacement.

When hiring a roofing contractor for your cedar shake roof, asking the right questions is important. Make sure they are fully certified and have extensive experience with cedar installations. Verify that their team is licensed, bonded, and insured. Ask for details about the materials they use, such as the type of underlayment and fasteners, and how they ensure proper ventilation. Getting multiple written estimates can help you compare options and choose a contractor who offers quality workmanship at a fair price.
