"My experience with Liberty Concrete in the removal and replacement of a 2,300 Sq.Ft. driveway area was a very positive. From the initial estimate through the entire construction process the work was done efficiently. I was kept informed of the work schedule and any questions I had were promptly answered. I was impressed with the quality and attention to details done during the grading, gravel sub-grade work, curb forming and the final pouring and finishing of the curbs and driveway. One third of the project involved a moderately steep slope intersecting a steeper city street at an angle. The entire project area required careful calculation to obtain the proper drainage and alignment. The final project aligns perfectly. The runoff from six inches of snow soon after project completion demonstrated that everything drained well! I would strongly recommend Liberty Concrete if you are considering having cement work done. Their prices are competitive and the quality of their work is superior!"

"I had Willie and Robert do my driveway and it turned out Beautiful. They were very professional and organized. Their team did an excellent job and kept things always clean and tidy each day they were there. My driveway is the nicest one on my street. I will definitely have this business back to do more concrete work. Jill Bosisto"

"We are happy with the sprinkler work. The crew was also supposed to build a retaining wall but they didn't seem to know how to do it correctly. After not responding to my several attempts to explain how it should be done, and mounting frustration, I ended up building the wall myself."

"They where timely every day. Went above and beyond and did such a great job. My trailer is safe and sound and I love that I have a covered porch. They cleaned up so good and when I got home from work it was all ready for use."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Sweet Home, OR

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
