Gigi scheduled the appointment and Kevin arrived exactly on time. Wow! The other appointments were not as considerate. Kevin walked the property and gave me an estimate on the spot. The estimate was clear and to the point. There was no doubt on what I should expect. Then the surprise: No money due until the job was done right. Again, wow. "I called Ray at Advantage roofing for 2 jobs, to replace a flat roof and to do some repairs from a shoddy job that was done by a roofer.  We purchased our home knowing that the flat roof had issues, however we didn't notice another problem.  The original inspection said that an area might have a leak because the soffit was wet and they wanted $1000 to remove a few tiles and look for the problem.
When Ray came out he immediately identified that there wasn't a leak, but that the problem was the previous owner had a roofer install a diverter so the rain wouldn't run into the pool.  The problem was the diverter was pushing all the water up underneath one tile so the water was just sitting there.  He went on the roof and took pictures of the area and highlighted with arrows what the problem was and the different options to fix it were.  He said we could install a diverter the correct way, but that option isn't the best, since it leaves the tar underneath exposed in some areas and it also isn't really proper code.  He instructed us that the proper way to repair it would be to remove the diverter and replace all the tiles that the old roofer removed to allow the water to run off the roof like its supposed to.  The problem with that is that the water would run into the pool so he suggested we hire a screen company to install a super gutter. Even though the super gutter was an extra $1000 we did that so that everything was exactly how it should be.  
Ray filed for the permits and then called me to make an appointment to do the work.  The guys showed up while I was at work around 10 am and by the time I got home at 2, they were done.  They removed the diverter, replaced all the fascia board, caulked it and cleaned up.  They also found roof tiles that perfectly matched what I had.  
The price was less than the home inspector wanted to just pull up a couple of tiles and Ray took an extra 10% off the estimate after I told him I found him on Angies list.

"We choose ASP impact windows and sliding doors over other vendors because their product (SIW) had thicker aluminum and glass than other less expensive products. They were able to make one 'eyebrow' window in one piece due to glass thickness that other vendors would have had to do in two pieces due to size. We just felt that overall ASP's SIW windows offered a little more safety. Our city inspector must have thought the same thing because he commented several times about how strong they were and event wrote down what they were for his own personal needs. I assume he has seen a lot of windows to inspect, so that gave me even more confidence that we made the right decision. We also had hurricane fabric installed for a covered section of our patio to replace an accordion that was being removed for storage outside of patio furniture, gas grill and plants during a storm. The hurricane fabric is so strong and convenient, it folds up and is stored in a bag, sitting in our closet. Chris our ASP sales person was great at explaining and patient while we did our due diligence. It did take a while for manufacturing, but definitely worth the wait. The installers were professional, keeping the areas as clean as possible, We are very happy with our new impact windows and sliding doors. Our house looks great with the new windows (and accordions removed). Would highly recommend."
