"Roto-Rooter sent out a technician named Freddy. Freddy was a well mannered and respectful gentleman who showed up early and worked quietly and efficiently to finish the job. He answered questions clearly. I recently hired another company to do simple work and they wanted far more, so I turned them down. Freddy discounted the faucet installation since he was already there to do the drain work. All work areas were left clean. <br />"

"<p>Billy was very honest in his reply, saying that most of his under-slab work is for sewer and drainage repair, and recommended a couple of other companies who specialize in my problem.  So while I didn't have any work itself done by Borg Plumbing, their prompt responsiveness and up-front honesty in deferring my specific problem to a better qualified expert was refreshing; I will do business with them again, given the opportunity.<br /> <br /></p> <br />"

"Efficient AC, Electric & Plumbing, recently replaced my HVAC system. Brian Moran, the sales person, was friendly, knowledgable and gave me a quick estimate and install time. Tony and Thomas who did the installation were professional, friendly and went the extra mile on a couple of non-related AC issues. I would highly recommend them!"

"I greatly recommend O and M Plumbing. Ben fixed a leak at our previous house that a different plumber was unable to diagnosis correctly. At our current house he replaced two water heaters, fixed a leak under the sink, installed a shut off valve to separate our home water supply and sprinkler system, and put in a pressure regulator valve. He is thorough, efficient, friendly, takes the time to explain things clearly, and was very accommodating about helping with some extra items. He and his team were also very considerate about wearing face masks and shoe covers which was much appreciated. Super plumber and very nice guy."

"HVAC--We appreciated that they showed up so quickly. They fixed a clogged drain line to get AC working, and we signed up for a 12 mo. plan due to cost being lower to repair it that way. The tech left saying that with a 10+ yr old unit, "the next major malfunction" would likely result in replacing the whole unit. That was a down side to the visit w/ them being new to us."

"We converted all four bathrooms to the high-rise toilets. At first, their rep said it would be about $150 to install a toilet, but it turned out they charge by the hour ($147/hr). They sent two guys out and finished all four in just under 2 hours, so the cost was about half what we expected. They cleaned up all the mess and did a good job on installation. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Taylor, TX

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
