"I am not the easiest person to work with and am very picky. I told Don what I wanted (and changed my mind many times) and he worked patiently with me. They came out exactly as I wanted! I am very happy with the quality and workmanship! I have received many compliments with our new kitchen remodel!! We are thinking about adding a wine cabinet, and will be calling Don to do the job."

"The designer made a few mistakes in measuring and had to remake some cabinets. One mistake I had to have my carpenter change wall at my expense to make cabinets work. The owner of cholla told me I should have pointed out the designers mistake to him. As it involved about $400 and I wanted them to finish up the cabinets and get them installed, I agreed to pay that amount. If I hadn't found their mistake, the cabinets would not have fit and either been remade or we would have had to tear out two walls to make them fit and further delay the job. As it was, the job was delayed two weeks because they were behind schedule on another job. The overall project turned put nicely. I handled all demolition, prep work, granite and tile installation with my own crew of workers. They came back and made adjustments on the cabinets. I chose them as they were a local company and didn't want custom cabinets shipped in from across the country. I have had custom cabinets made in past on seven kitchens and felt they were costly. If I had more extensive cabinetry I would have price/quality shopped more, but wanted to get the project done as quickly as possible. Overall, I am pleased with the entire outcome. I was very specific in the design of the cabinets, size, rollers in cabinets, etc. a novice may not have gotten as much functionality out of this small kitchen area as I did. I thought the cabinets were attractive. <br />"

"Got estimates from several providers; settled on Tintas based on knowledge of staff, comparable pricing and ability to do all the work without having us work with other providers (ie electrician, plumber, etc) individually. <br /> They gave us a schedule of dates that the work would be done and did a good job adhering to the schedule. Took place over a two week period; but we were never without the use of our kitchen. Cabinets done in two days, electrical work in one and countertops in one (came back on day two to seal the granite, took less than an hour). <br /> We are absolutely pleased with the quality of work by all involved and the end result. We also were very happy that "Danny" helped us by making some recommendations that we would have otherwise overlooked. <br /> The only downside is that we asked them repeatedly what time to expect them each day so that we could plan our day accordingly. Day one they were an hour late, day two three hours late and the electrician was a few hours late. I don't think this is worth a B rating; but would give them an A- if it was available. <br />"

"Cabinets were ordered on Dec 12.  Due to the holidays they were not delivered until the last of Feb.  This was the cabinet makers that were late and no fault of Ferguson's.  Tear out and replacing with new cabinets re- plumbing and installing sink took about a week.  with another week to patch walls and finish flooring strips. <br /> The owner came by several times during the insulation to make sure everything was to our satisfaction.  He made any changes that needed to be done during his visits.  He adjusted things we had not found.  Very professional and has a good eye for detail. <br /> The only downside to the whole operation was the timeline.  It took more time that we were first told.  This however was no problem for us and the extra time spent was evident with the terrific job that was done. <br /> I would not hesitate to recommend Ferguson Cabinets to anyone looking to do any type of kitchen remodel. <br />"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Tonto Basin, AZ

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
