"Hired Water Works Services to remove an old water softener and replace the coper piping. They were recommended by Home Advisor. They showed up on time, did the work quickly and the work looks great. Then after using the water it was determined that the water pressure was low, most noticeable of the 2nd floor. Contacted Water Works Services and after texting them back and forth, I figured out that the hot water pressure was low. The Plummer indicated that they had turned off the hot water shutoff valve while they were working on the water main piping. I turned the valve to open it up and it just kept spinning. This indicated that the valve was broken, it would not close or open, it was stuck in the middle somewhere. Water Works Services came back out and fixed the valve for no charge. They stood by their work which was a nice surprise."

"I think overall, the price was probably reasonable and probably about average. In any event, as far as that goes, I think they've done really well. I think everyone that's came out, were employees. As far as the replacement, it was just for the heating. If you get a leak in the heat exchanger you end up getting carbon dioxide in your house, which is what you don't want, which is why I replaced it. This was a newer heater that was more efficient. It tries to take all the heat out from the exhaust. They had to have a special pipe that goes up to release all the carbon dioxide. The furnace came with a thermostat as well."

"Arrived at house within 3 hours of calling them which is what I needed. I've used them 4-5 times in past 2 or 3 years. They are the only ones that can come out same day as calling them and usually within a few hours. Because of that their price is probably a little higher than others but when it's an emergency it's worth it. Just like the Emergency room is more than the walk in clinic."

"We got charged $65 for a 5 minute job. We were hoping to have the new dishwasher installed while Abe's was there but apparently you "don't do that". I spoke with someone about cancelling the appointment for this morning (Krista?) as my husband had to go to work early. Apparently the message never got conveyed as someone showed up as my husband was getting ready to leave. Thankfully they were only there for a few minutes. Unfortunately, that was the most expensive 5 minutes we'll never get back. Overall, we are very disappointed in the over charge as well as poor customer service.  <br />"

"Work is done. I now have a floor to ceiling hole in my laundry room. They can't do that prepare and said I would have to have a dry waller. While pounding the pipes the knocked a picture off the wall and shattered the glass. Found after they left. Wanted them to come back and install a garbage disposal, but have been playing phone tag with them since Thurs. Gary did return my call while I was out and told me he would call between 8 and 9 the following morning. Still not heard from him. I did call and left a message but so far no return"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Topeka, IN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
