"I originally hired Carlos to install some new vanity tops and sinks and to repair and paint my deck. I was preparing my house for sale. After discussing with my agent the list of things to do grew substantially. Carlos stepped up and ended up taking on all the work. He (and his crew) removed popcorn ceiling, painted walls, ceilings, stair bannisters, cabinet doors, front door, steps and he installed a new vanity, tiled, fixed plumbing issues, fixed electrical issue with switches, repaired and installed blinds. Caulked and sealed and even removed a dead rodent in the crawl space! He did all this in a VERY tight timeline as I needed to get the house on the market. He worked long hours and when little stuff cropped up her came back to fix or change. He is polite, responsive and professional. He kept me informed of what he found and any needed changes and provide receipts for supplies quickly. I gave him a key and I was very comfortable with him working when I was at work. All in all a very good experience and I will use him again."

"Sam, the supervisor, at my community gate, impressed me with patience and kindness waiting to enter the neighborhood, as we chatted via phone. At the door he was friendly, courteous and professional. He went out of his way to include my grandchildren in our meeting. I liked him right then. I was anxious to see if he was as knowledgeable as he was professional. So we got started discussing the roof issues. He again took the time to include my six year old granddaughter, asking for her to assist, overseeing tge ladder so he stayed safe! She loved it. He went outside and I went about my daily business very comfortable with his personal integrity. His demeanor and my observations, you know, the kind of feeling that you have nothing to worry about with this guy on your roof, but hoping he really knows roofs too! So 20-30 minutes later he knocks on the front door. Sam comes in and proceeds with his analysis. He first gave me a big picture view. He had thoroughly inspected the roof explaining the positives and the problems where rain had seeped in staining the ceiling. Hmmmm...I'm thinking, I like this company, Elite Roifing. He talked directly to me and very clearly as to WHY the roof leaked and what needed to be done so I don't worry this winter! Then he produced a digital camera and showed with me pictures, explaing further, in greater detail, how to fix the area of concern. He made it so easy to understand I thought, for a split second, that I could do it!:) OK, it was right now, I decided to cancel an appointment with another company, for another estimate. I just did not need to call anyone else. This company has INTEGRITY!! I did not even have the dollar estimate yet and I gotta tell ya, I was not concerned, knowing it would be fair. Thank you, Sam. So I soon got an estimate via text from Tim Mortan, the owner and continued interactions with he and the co-owner, Teresa Mortan, Tim's wife. All communication was professional and pleasant. The roof was repaired on schedule by another employee wrapping up our business. Ah, but more good news. Sam had explained that Elite Roofing will come out every two years to give the roof a "checkup"! This will prevent a very minor repair from getting bigger. Yay! See you in 2916 Elite Riofing. Thank You! Carmel <br />"

"Custom Exterior used to do double pain windows in 2003 and now they do stucco as well. The sales pitch was well done. They were to repair dry root on a corner of the house then stucco the front of the house and the wall of a balcony. Their estimates got strange as I asked what if they would only do the balcony or what if they only did the front of the the house.  It seemed they always needed to have a 3 person crew visit three times that made the estimates high. A big red flag went up when then wanted half of the price upfront before they started. We canceled the contact at that time. We decided not to do stucco at all after this experience. <br />"

"We successfully used EnergySage to get broad range of quotes for our solar install completed May 2021 in Moraga CA. I had shortlisted Solar Optima and American Array Solar as they both had teams that were local and did not use contractors. One of the key reasons I selected American Array is I consistently spoke with the same person from the first quote until the signing of the contract. Julene was incredibly prompt on every question I asked and never pushy. I docusigned on April 7th and paid the final invoice May 14. Post signing there was continuous communication on the process, design and submitting the permits. I read reviews on many companies with a lot of drama which I am sure in cases was warranted. Our install with American Array was zero drama and it was incredibly easy. The install took a day, and the installers were all great, down to earth people and happy to talk me through how the technology worked. They were very organized and set up tables with all their supplies as a production line and that gave me even more confidence, they know their craft. They did not leave any trace they were here other than the panels on the roof. It’s a big decision and if you are like me and have read the horror stories you worry. I would recommend American Array to my closest friends. Good luck with your search."

"It was great. An excellent job done very efficiently, in spite of weather issues. Even the city inspector was impressed. The company owners were very easy to work with and took into consideration all of the special issues this particular job had. They were easy to talk to and quickly answered my questions as they came up. I will certainly contact them when I need a general contractor for future projects."

"We had a roof leak on the weekend. We called McGuire Roofing on Monday and someone was out to give us an estimate that afternoon. The crew removed the old roofing material on one day and started the new roofing material the very next day and within three days, we had a new roof. The crew was very professional and the company was very easy to work with. We had also gotten a couple of recommendations for this roofing company from friend. Our friends sure were right and now we are ready to recommend McGuire Roofing to everyone we talk to. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Tracy, CA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
