"Jay was able to fix a cabinet door hinge that we thought was unfixable. We'd tried to fix it ourselves but couldn't find a matching hinge, even looking for one at cabinetparts.com. It took him a few hours and a trip to the hinge wholesaler to get a replacement for the hinges which are no longer made, but the door is perfect now. I'm pretty sure there are very few people with this type of expertise in Portland, so if you've got a tricky issue, his many years of experience will definitely serve to your advantage. Highly recommend!"

"Many of the windows in our house were painted shut when we bought <br>the house years ago. We lived with it. But high temperatures over the <br>past couple of years made these rooms increasingly uncomfortable. <br>So, we were delighted to learn of Fresh Air Sash Cord Repair, Inc. in Portland <br>that restores stuck windows to their original working condition. This entails a lot <br>of careful detailed work to free-up the windows by removing the lead paint, <br>re-balancing the original weights and installing new cords. Patty Spencer,  <br>the owner, and her assistant worked like surgeons. They set up an air-tight <br>enclosure in each room to contain the lead paint. Vacuums were on <br>almost all the time for further safety. Different electric tools were used <br>for different tasks to minimize damage to the windows. The outcome <br>is fantastic! "I chose Michael Lex Construction for my siding project for several reasons. I have an older, 1920’s house with cedar shingle siding. This consisted mostly of the original shingles but had missing shingles, a number of repairs done over the years as evidenced by newer shingles, which didn’t quite match, plus many layers of paint. I opted for a full house residing to create an overall even appearance and establish a known installation date. Mike, the owner, showed the greatest interest in restoring an older home and didn’t try to talk me into an engineered siding product. He had the most creative solutions for some tricky areas. I also had the last 2 original windows replaced. Because the windows were a slightly different size than the originals, Mike and his partner Chris, built new frames so the windows fit properly. I chose a hybrid window style with natural wood on the inside. Because they also replaced the window framing, I didn’t have to strip the paint from the old window frame as I’d intended, which was a happy side effect for me. I like that Mike is not only the owner but actually does the work vs. subcontracting or performing only project management. He has a vested interest in producing a quality result. The price was very competitive and the project was completed per the scope and time of the contract. Mike and Chris worked well together to create a beautiful outcome. I would certainly recommend this team and hire them again."

"Four or five years ago, we had our washing machine repaired and eventually replaced by Spencer's. It was such a rousing success that, when our 12 -year old dishwasher died, I called them again. They did not disappoint. They recommended a new, basic model dishwasher, much like our old one. The installer arrived on time, was nice and competent and professional, and had the dishwasher installed and ready to go in less than an hour. (He was also not offended when our curious kittens decided he needed help and got in his way. After a couple of pats, though, I sequestered them in the bedroom). The new dishwasher is working great."
