"My overall experience with Humberto was nothing short of fantastic! We had an emergency when a large tree branch fell and put a large hole in our roof. He was here within hours to tarp and plank the hole, and put on a new, beautiful roof the very next day (including new gutters and some siding repairs). The cost was lower than most estimates I got and the work exceeded all expectations. Very highly recommend."

"Very pleased with this company. Professional, timely. Our home, porch, shed, and stairwell are sparkling. The two workers were polite and efficient and when I questioned why my office window looked like the soap was not rinsed he advised that they rinsed it twice (2nd story) and offered to clean it again. It is now perfect. This is a difficult window for us to access."

BLINDS TO GO

"Update 9/21/22 Here we go again. Today was the second attempt to install our blinds and guess what; there will be a third attempt. The first time around all of our blinds had a horrible odor coming from them so we were forced to return them. In addition to the odor, the installer found that one of the blinds had the cord on the wrong side. The installer notified the store about the issue and they were supposed to make the necessary adjustments. Fast forward to today's install and sure enough, they ordered those same blinds wrong again. I tried calling the office several times, but as expected, nobody answers the phone. Installer - 5 Stars Carle Place Store - 0 Stars ***Order number 277126*** At approximately 3pm on 09/01/2022 (when the installation window was supposed to be 10am-12pm), I had (5) serenity blinds installed in my home. While they were being installed, my wife and I noticed a very unpleasant odor. I originally thought that the odor was coming from the installer, but after he left, the odor remained. I then went to smell the blinds and each of them had an overwhelming chemical odor that smelled similar to garlic or onion. At 5:15pm, I contacted the Blinds To Go Store # 232 and notified them of the issue. I was told that someone would reach out to me regarding the issue. At 7:11pm, I received a call back from Zora at the Store # 232. Zora stated that she had contacted the installer to find out if they were exposed to any kind of unusual odor, to which she was told they were not. Zora then said it could be some kind of chemical from the factory and to let them air out for a few days to see if the odor dissipated. My family and I left our home, and when we returned we could not believe how horrible our entire home smelled. It was so bad that my wife actually started gagging as if she was going to vommit. We opened some windows to try and help. Waking up the next morning the smell was just as bad. On 09/02/2022, My wife and I returned the blinds to store # 232 because our family could not bear the smell any longer. After doing some research, we are now concerned that we may have been exposed to some kind of toxic chemical - either formaldehyde or acrylonitrile. I have tried contacting the corporate office and customer service, but nobody answers the phone. It is impossible to get through to anyone at the Carle Place location; they never answer the phone there. We felt it best to show up at the store with the blinds to avoid the frustration and headache of trying to get someone on the phone. We were greeted by very unpleasant staff who did not even lift their heads up to say hello to us. We are extremely unhappy with the whole process of this, from ordering the blinds, waiting three months for them to be manufactured and then finally receiving them to only have them smell toxic. Furthermore, one of the blinds could not even be installed as it was measured incorrectly. I would appreciate a response today before I have to seek legal advice on this matter."

Guaranteed Home Improvement

"I called my fuel company to schedule an annual furnace tune up and was asked if my chimney was cleaned recently. It wasn't so Petro highly recommended calling Guaranteed Home Improvement. I did and spoke with Mark who made an appointment for a service call. Justin arrived promptly and did a thorough inspection of the exterior and interior of the chimney. He provided photos that were helpful as he described the damage in the flue and cautioned about the possibility of carbon monoxide building up inside the chimney. He was very knowledgeable, clear and concise as he explained that inserting a liner would divert smoke and heat from corroding the clay tiles filtering into the house. The photos of missing and disintegrated tiles at the base of the flue were enough proof for me. Justin answered my questions about the work, when it could be done, how long it would take, the cost, etc. The decision to go forward was a no brainer for me and as I was comfortable with Justin's responses and he arranged for a crew to come over within the hour. Charles and Taj arrived soon after and immediately began installing the liner in the chimney. They were professional, courteous, worked well together, and completed the work in a short period of time. Eric contacted me later to find out if everything was okay and I said I was completely satisfied. The entire process from the initial call through the follow up conversation from Eric was handled very well. In fact, everyone I interacted with at Guaranteed Home Improvement was friendly, professional, and fine examples of good customer service. The unsung heroes were the receptionists who redirected my calls. I am very thankful for the fine repair work and the peace of mind that came with it. I enthusiastically recommend anyone in need of their services to give them a call. Marvin"

FAQs for wainscoting installation projects in Uniondale, NY

Wainscoting is decorative paneling that covers the lower part of a wall for style and protection. Beadboard is a type of wainscoting made of long vertical planks with small raised beads between each board. You’ll see it on walls and ceilings when homeowners want added depth and charm. Both options work indoors or outdoors; beadboard pieces lock together with tongue-and-groove joints, while similar styles, such as shiplap, rely on a square rabbet joint.

The best rule of thumb for wainscoting is to stop the panels at about one-third of the wall height. In a room with a nine-foot ceiling, that’s roughly three feet up. Sticking to this ratio keeps the room balanced, lets plenty of wall color show above the trim, and delivers a polished, timeless look.

Wainscoting can make a room look smaller if the room has low ceilings. The same rule applies to wainscoting as it does to painting any space: to make the room look larger and more open, paint it a light color, such as white or cream. Since beadboard incorporates vertical lines in the paneling, this style of wainscoting is ideal for those wanting to make a room appear larger than it is.

Technically, you can panel any room, but wainscoting shines in open areas, such as a foyer or a tall-ceilinged bathroom. Skip it in small rooms with low ceilings—panels can make tight spaces feel boxed in. Open-concept layouts without clear stopping points along the walls are also tricky, as the trim requires a distinct beginning and end.

Removing existing wall panels before installing wainscoting involves distinct demolition efforts. The cost to hire a professional for demo work is $1.50 per square foot. If the underlying drywall requires replacement after panel removal, an additional fee of $1.60 to $2.35 per square foot is incurred. Completing these tasks properly ensures a sturdy foundation and a flawless finish.
