"After learning that radon levels in my home was higher the recommended levels, I reached out to Eddie. He was very easy to work with and was very patient with us. In the end our radon levels are very low! We are completely satisfied with the services provided. Eddie went above and beyond for me. Thank you!"

"Chris was excellent from the scheduling to the follow up. Even his website gives you a link so that you can see some of the work he has done. When scheduling, they gave me all of our options and provided me a breakdown of the costs. They also explained that if the pool has problems, then we should just forgo his pool inspection and get a separate pool inspection. <br /> Chris arrived on time and took the time to ask us what our concerns might be. He then explained what he was going to do. We have done this twice before with other inspectors and have never had this. He was happy to have us follow him around and ask questions. Like I said, he checked out everything. Including a crawl space that I could not have fit into and I am a tall, but small woman. He must be a contortionist. Seriously. He was amazing and completely thorough. He took the time to go over things with us and address our every concern. I cannot express my absolute confidence in him and his findings. I know we made the right choice. He reviewed all the findings, sent us a report via email and offered to further go over the report. We are so glad that we got the inspection as there was a LOT of work to be done including plumbing. <br /> His service and thorough inspection was top notch. Like I said, we have done this before with other top rated performers on Angies List. He is the best. I honestly believe that he should charge more. He is that good and could save you a bundle. He did for us. <br /> Worth the cost and more. He also seemed like an honest and good guy. <br /> <br />"

"Mike Cantor (20/20 Advanced Property & Mold Inspection) was referred to us by a family member when we recently brought a home. He is the absolute best, most thorough, and professional inspector we have worked with. Mike responded immediately when we contacted him for a home inspection that we wanted done ASAP because of our short escrow time. We were able to set up the inspection in the same week. Mike arrived early on the date of inspection around 8:45 am (start time was 9:00 am). He requested about 7 hours to perform the inspection which caught the owner and realtor both by surprised as most home inspector only gave a cursory 3 hours inspection. Mike was meticulous in his inspection and took time to points out many aspects of the house's construction, remodeling, and reconstruction that we were unaware of. He was extremely detailed in his inspection and documentation with videos, still photos, and even drones (to inspect the roof). Mike was still going strong around the 7th hours which irked the seller/ realtor but was extremely favorable and reassuring to us when we are making such a large purschase/ investment. Mike is a little bit more expensive than your run of the mills home inspector but he is worth every pennies and more. He ended up discovering multiple issues with our house that were not apparent to us on our examinations. We ended up negotiating with the owner to reduce the sale price by $40,000. Mike continued to help us with recommendations after the completion of the inspection on vendors (termite, landscaper, roofer, etc) who he felt were reliable. We can honestly say that Mike Cantor truly loves his work and he is the only inspector we are going to use or recommend going forward. Can't thank you enough Mike."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Overall, the company is very professional, knowledgable and friendly. The technician came late about 45 minutes, but he was accessible by mobile. The initial testing didn't test for asbestos due to some miscommunication, but Environcheck made good by discounting the actual asbestos testing. They were also good about responding back in a timely manner and provided all the documentation and results via email as well as mailed copies of the receipts and test results."

"Even before they came to test, Chuck spent quite a while on the phone with me personally just answering questions and giving me an idea of the process. He was very honest about what to expect and the pricing. They were very quick in responding to my call. They were able to schedule a visit the very next day, on the weekend.  The visit went exactly as described by very professional servicemen.  Not only were they well informed, but also recommended that I call the homeowners insurance as a claim.  They were very quick about the results and Chuck even called me personally with the results and some recommendations.  He even was very conscientious to save us some money by cancelling some testing at the lab that wasn't needed because of the positive result. I would highly recommend them to anyone. <br />"

"I would give this company a high score for response as they came to the house within a couple hours of our call. But not so high on protecting carpeting as they worked. They should have used a heavier plastic drop cloth as the one they used shredded as they worked resulting in spotted carpet & flooring. Also the house sub area had to be dried out with fans going 24-7. Unfortunately the first week the fans were in place they were not located correctly to do the job. A second week of additional fans & repositioning was necessary before our plumber could go under the house to remove the old sewer line and replace it with PVC. I'm really undecided on whether I would hire again."

"He is a good general contractor and I used him for a previous remodel. He estimated this project in advance and it is a huge remodel of a large house. The subcontractors he uses all do good quality work and keep the work area clean. They clean up every night and take a lot of pride in their work, making sure it is done well. The subcontractors always arrive early in the morning and work all day; Guy is very reliable. They are all very professional and I have never had a problem with them that way. I will use them again in the future."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Valencia, CA

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
