"I called several popular plumbing companies to replace an old dripping shower/tub faucet in the guest bath. All wanted to use their fixture and cut the shower tile to fit the new fixture, so I gave up. After a year or so, I joined Angie’s list and found Top Notch plumbing. Gordon had some fixture recommendations, but allowed me to purchase my own fixture that was compatible with my current installation. The overall install took about 3 hours. Gordon took care during the work to not damage any existing tile or carpet. He knows his craft and performed a very clean and professional install. Overall, I highly recommend Top Notch plumbing and will be saying goodbye to the popular TV advertising plumbers. Thanks Gordon!"

"Customer service was amazing. Francisco was prompt and efficient. His quote included bringing the hot water heater, installing it and taking away the old one. He accomplished all of this within 90 minutes on a Sunday, leaving the area neat and clean. I highly recommend Chado Plumbing!"

"First we called the company we had delt with in the past, that got us no where. So we went to Angie’s List and found Carini. One of us has Lupus and get very sick from extreme heat like we have had recently. It was the same day as the West Fire in Alpine. Omar came out the next morning and gave us two options he could do right away, we made our choice and he did just that, got to work. Omar was very polite and showed concern for our situation. We will definitely use Carini and Omar in the future."

Hydro jet uses water at 4,000psi to clean the inside of the mainline drain which connects all the home's drains to the city's sewer system.
Using a snake we can go through the cleanouts on the side of the house.
With the cleanouts snaked, and the blockage located, we can send the hydro jet through the sewer vent and flush out the blocked drain.

"For plumbing services I used Mike Carroll Plumbing. He is a good provider. He was an 'A'. He definitely was prompt and did the reading when he said he was going to do it. He was able to get back, I had to leave a message for him and he got back to me right away. He was responsive and on top of it he was working with his customers."

"We have used them twice, each time calling after a number of small items built up so we could be efficient with the call. Things like dripping faucets or minor fixture changes. I hate doing plumbing because the cost of failure is too high. The first time, the plumber they sent did a good job, accomplished all tasks, and billed us on the spot. The second time, different guy, he only did one of three tasks (it took under ten minutes), then looked at the other two and declined to do them, saying the office would contact me to arrange getting the parts and finishing the tasks (leaky faucet and new hose faucet). I asked him for an invoice and he said they'd bill me. The only thing I heard from them again was an envelope with an invoice for a full trip. No follow up on the open items. I ended up fixing the leaky faucet myself with a $5 part from home depot. I'll do the outdoor faucet with a different vendor. Even if they didn't have it in their van, he could have gone to home depot or an even closer plumber supply and been back and installed it in the time that they billed me for. If they are going to charge for a full trip, I expect full effort. They are off the list."

"Some services performed were excellent. Depends on the plumber they send out and what supplies he carries in his service vehicle. It is very important to describe the service that you desire in detail. If the plumber doesn 't have exactly what you need he may improvise. This is probably commonly done in the business. If you know the parts you will need go ahead and buy and have available. Bill Howe Plumbing is well known and does have a reputable business. Also, you will pay for the full first hour whether it takes that long to do the job or not."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Valley Center, CA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
