"They did an awesome job.  They were professional and punctual.  They always explained all of the charges in detail and when ever I had concerns or questions, they were always professional and detailed in there explanations.  I really appreciated their flexibility and while I wasn't happy with the first chimney cap, the redid the 2nd and charged a very discounted rate for not getting right the first time.  This is a company who always treats the customers right and quality is very important to them.  I recommend everyone gives them a try.

"Kevin provided excellent service when patching up our roof. We had a few loose, missing, and/or damaged shingles and various metal flashings that needed to be re-sealed as a result of recent intense storms. He reviewed his work afterward and even made some great recommendations regarding other issues. I would certainly hire Kevin and his crew again for future projects."

"Flooring installation was great, and my new back splash is beautiful. Dalton & Henry did a very professional job. They were on time, polite, careful with my personal household items and played with the dog. Carpet was installed. installers were great. Yellowstone Granite was sub-contracted to install granite. It rained, over night that morning, granite was outside before it was delivered and installed. It is yellowish/gold color, instead of white. Either it was never sealed or sealed correctly. I've been promised over and over again, by my contractor, Travis that it would be stripped and resealed. Yellowstone never called. They also owe me two pieces of granite that was left from the large stone to go under my Grandfather clock and a mini fridge. I feel that A Touch of Grace did not deliver the beautiful kitchen I was promised. Also the dishwasher was not properly reattached to the counter top. Every time i open it, it falls open. These project were in late August, early September still not resolved."

"They took care of Hall Bathroom first. Started with removal of tub walls. Some removal and replacement of studs. We had a one day delay due to needing a bug man to come out and treat area. Removed damaged drywall, replaced it, prepped it for painting. Removed old and replaced plumbing pipes and attachments. Set tile, grouted and finshed tile, installed new plumbing fixtures. Replaced light, towel rack attached cabinet to wall. Replaced toilet seal. Caulked where necessary, painted bathroom and door. Master bathroom second. Removed tub walls, tile, bathtub. Removed old and replaced plumbing pipes and attachments. Moved drain for shower drain. Made wall shelf insert. Installed shower floor pan. Installed wall tiles and shower floor tiles. Grouted tiles, caulked where necessary. Install new shower fixtures, light towel rack and wall cabinet. Installed shower sliding door unit. Caulked where necessary, painted bathroom, window area and door. Overall, the process went great. They cleaned up area daily before leaving. Room was accessible for use when they were not working. (Not all was torn up at any given time.) Very, very courteous staff. Very knowlegable and willing to share answers to basic questions. They would explain the process of what was going on at any given time. Will use their services again and recommend them to anyone who is looking for repairs or remodeling."

"When I first met Matt I had a great feeling about him. So much so I cancelled all other estimates. He met my expectations and then some. The job turned out fantastic! He's a young ambitious young man and did a great job. He completed the work on time and I would definitely hire him again."

FAQs for wood shake or composite roofing installation and replacement projects in Van, TX

Cedar shakes and wood shingles might seem similar, but they have some important differences. Cedar shakes are hand-split, giving them a unique, textured appearance that adds rustic charm to your roof. They're great for homeowners who want a distinctive look. Wood shingles, conversely, are machine-made, providing a smooth, uniform appearance for a more modern look. Shakes tend to be more expensive due to the craftsmanship involved but offer exceptional beauty and resilience.

A well-maintained cedar shake roof can last up to 60 years. However, factors like severe weather and improper ventilation can reduce its lifespan. You should consider replacing your roof if you notice persistent leaks, visible water damage, curling or splitting shakes, moss growth, rot, or missing shakes. Regular inspections can help you determine when it's time for a replacement.

When hiring a roofing contractor for your cedar shake roof, asking the right questions is important. Make sure they are fully certified and have extensive experience with cedar installations. Verify that their team is licensed, bonded, and insured. Ask for details about the materials they use, such as the type of underlayment and fasteners, and how they ensure proper ventilation. Getting multiple written estimates can help you compare options and choose a contractor who offers quality workmanship at a fair price.
