"I hired System Pavers to replace my back lawn with a paver patio, including a gas fire pit and walkway. I couldnâ t be happier with the result. They were very professional, transparent, and easy to work with. Communication was very good throughout the process - any time a design decision or issue came up during the installation, they would reach out to me for input or confirmation, which I greatly appreciated. At one point during the installation, I sent a few questions to the project manager (Austin) via email at around 8pm on a Friday, not expecting to hear back until Monday. Austin called me within two minutes of sending the email! Thanks again to him and the hard working crew for their attention to detail and timely completion of the job. Highly recommended"

"My wife and I hired Forest Landscape to remove our old rotted pressure treated retaining wall by our Koi pond and replace with natural black basalt rock. They also removed our wood raised garden walls and replaced with paver stone with a top cap. They also removed our badly installed basalt rock pathway that was loose and lifting up. The rock pathway was installed only three years ago by Cornerstone Hardscapes. Forest Landscapes installed a stamped concrete pathway where the basalt rock pathway was removed Jose and Rigo Castaneda were very professional to work with and there crew were real craftsman with attention to detail. They showed up on time and worked even on Saturday to finish project on time. We will hire them again for any future projects."

"We bought a new construction home and the backyard was just a big area of bark chips. We were looking to extend our concrete patio, put in grass or turf and a few planter boxes on the side. Joe Fisher gave us a competitive estimate for our project. We also had some other landscaping companies come out for bids, but we went with Western Paver Design because they are contractors, not just landscapers, and we got a good feeling that they would give us a beautiful backyard that we would love. They absolutely came through. Darwin and his crew worked for less than a week to transform the yard. They added a beautifully paved patio to our existing concrete patio, doubling the space. They installed a big swath of turf which looks very realistic and feels very soft. And in our side yard they created a beautiful dry river bed with varying-sized rocks, built three planter boxes, and planted a gorgeous maple tree and some bushes. Joe and Darwin were in regular communication with us to make sure the project turned out as desired. The crew took a panel out of our fence to have easy access to our yard and they put it back in and cleaned up everything when they were done. We couldn’t be happier."

"I hired Yury and the team for a backyard landscaping update - putting in a putting green with a small planter area. The work included adding a retaining wall to fill/level out the usable area, along with install of the turf. Overall I had a great experience from scheduling a quote through project completion. Yury was a great communicator. It was easy to get a quote scheduled, work out details, discuss the project, etc via email. The guys also did a great job executing on the design of the project. They also provided great inputs/recommendations on changes or what would look best. The team did a great job taking my input and helping me come to a decision for design/layout/etc. Overall I would recommend Yury and team for any landscaping project, big or small! They did a great job and my backyard looks amazing!"

"I have known the owner of this business for 36 years. Although I was never able to hire work done for myself I have witnessed his work many times over and the quality is sheer perfection! What has mattered to me as much or more is the level of honesty and integrity displayed over and over again by the company and its owner. I have no hesitation recommending Bernard Masonry."

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Portland, OR

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
