"Everything we expected and more.  Replaced the hangers for the gutters with hidden hangers and added two roof vents in garage roof at no extra cost.  Hardest working team I have seen in a long time.  Clean up was continuous.  I was especially impressed that even though one worker was on cleanup the entire time as the others finished their jobs they not only pitched in on clean up, they made it fun!!  Great job! <br />"

"This is the second time my parents hired this company. The first time was 10 years ago and a new roof was put on their home in Atkinson, IL. Two weeks ago they put a new roof on my sisters home in Geneseo, and did an excellent job. My parents would definitely recommend them! They were very easy to work with. Good communication and followed through with excellent results."

"They did a great job. The lead person took lots of time to answer any and all of my questions while going over the estimate and during construction. I was never pressured to make a decision on materials or to hire them for the project. Only took 1-1/2 days for the entire project. They were always courteous and friendly and worked very well together as a team. The finished roof looks really nice. They had huge dropcloths to help catch the old roof material, besides the dumpster, and removed the debris from each area as they finished with it.  The clean up was awesome. Haven't found any stray nails at all. I would definitely recommend them for any roofing needs. <br />"

"The crew was punctual, arriving even earlier than expected. Except for a 30 minute lunch break, they worked hard all day, finishing about 4 o'clock . They came back on the next business day to finish. Both days the cleanup was very well done. Not one nail, old shingle, or piece of wood was left on my property. On the first day, the foreman found some rotted wood from a leak in the existing roof. He took pictures of the damage and came down to talk to me about what needed to be done. The second day was Halloween, and the owner Steve, called to ask me if I needed them out of the way for the trick-or-treaters. I found all of the people involved to be exceptionally responsive, professional, and hard workers. I couldn't ask for anything more. I'm glad I hired River Cities Roofing, and I would highly recommend them for any one who needs a roof."

"We purchased a roof inspection through Angie's Big Deal. They came to perform the inspection and I believe did a good and thorough job. They were friendly and had good advice. The problem I encountered was trying to schedule the appointment as they were difficult to get a hold of. <br />"

"This is the second time we've used Mainsteam Home Improvement to replace original windows in our house. Several years ago, they replaced half of our windows. This year, when we decided to replace the remaining 5 windows, they were our first call. The windows work effortlessly and look great! They were professionally installed and the staff was great to work with on this project."

"Extremely happy with Suburban.  Professionalism and quality of the install was outstanding. Couldn't be happier with the quality of the windows and patio door.  It took 3 days with off and on rainy weather.  They ran into some problems with the framing of the patio door, but that was due to the age of the home.  They fixed the the issues without an extra charge. They were not the lowest bid,  but we went with them due to their reputation for customer service and quality.  We definitely made the right choice. Well worth the extra few hundreds of dollars."

"Our "only" negative comment about Ground Zero Shelters is that they do not come to a persons residence to give the sales pitch and demonstration. You must go to their showroom or see their product at a home show. This being said, we were extremely happy with the sales experience, reminders and installation of our shelter. They called about 10 days prior to the installation for a reminder, their installers called the day before and the morning of the installation to remind us that they would be at our home at the designated time. They showed up as promised and were completed with the installation in less than 1 1/2 hours time! Thank you Ground Zero!"

"Aaron and his guys came in and removed the old roof shingels that were VERY bad, and had a new roof done, finished and cleaned up by the next afternoon. Everything was cleaned up and the new roof really makes my home look better. They took the time to secure the roof with tarps the night they tore off the old shingels, just in case it rained. Aaron called the next day to make sure I didn't have any additonal questions. I am usually pretty handy, but this would have been a big enough project that I needed a professional. That is why I called Aaron. It was done and finished in onlytwo days and the cost couldn't be beat. <br /> His window team had done some work for me in the past when I first bought my house. The windows that were installed did not have any aluminum wrapping around them, so they looked bad and would have required painting and maintenance. They guys came in and trimmed out my windows in no time, and now 10 years later they still look great. All I do is clean the outside of the house every spring. No maintenance is such a time saver. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Viola, IL

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
