"I have moved several times in the last six years and let me tell you it has been a nightmare. I don?t write reviews but felt I had to because of my recent moving experience with College Hunks. They showed up on time, fully prepared, and worked their butts off from start to finish. What I appreciated most was how they kept letting us know what they were doing and checking in before moving anything delicate. This was one of the easiest moves we have ever done."

"I highly recommend Roosevelt and his team. We have used them twice! They work very quickly, treated our things with care and helped disassemble and reassemble our furniture. Roosevelt was fairly priced and very easy to work with. He went above and beyond for us."

"National Van Lines only sent us two guys to pickup our items. The delivery was much better with three guys. However, they packed our items pretty tight and things got crush a bit. So, the service was okay for the money we paid. "

"I had a two bedroom two bath apartment in Pentagon City, VA. The moved started at 9am on a Monday. I reserved the elevator for 4 hours. I requested three movers and I believe it would take no longer than five hours total. However, it took the movers 7 hours to load the truck. Then another 5 hours to unload the truck. So my five hour quote ballooned to $2,400 to move 2 miles away. I learned to never accept a hourly rate and only do flat rates. Also, I would never do business with this company. They even damaged the wall in my new place. The manager that came to help unload because of the time said he would repair the damage with no cost to me. Laughable. After he finished, I had to get a professional to fix it because it was a hatchet job."

"Movers USA did a fantastic job! They explained everything about how they would pack, wrap furniture and lable each box and item. There were three movers, they worked so effortlessly and efficient. Great teamwork. The weather was horrible, gusts of wind, temperatures below 0 with the wind but it didn't slow them down and they didn't cancel. Seeing them so careful and organized I felt comfortable with them moving very special family collectibles. I was very impressed. I would recommend Movers USA to my family and friends, even my sales agent!"

"Used Dan's Van Lines to unload a Pod of household goods and move boxes and items into the house. Initial contact and scheduling was very easy with exchange of information to confirm the type of service needed to match my need. Scheduling and notifications through arrival were well done. Crew, truck, and support equipment such as protective floor runners and wheeled dollies arrived on time. Crew members, Pablo and Nelson, were very professional, courteous and efficient. Moved items into rooms as directed. Finished with a walk through to adjust placement of boxes and items as needed. Cleaned up. No glitches. A great team! I found Dan's Vans through a referral by a friend. Price is very competitive. My online/social recommendations are few, but I give this strong recommendation of Dan's Vans. Contact them. I will use them again."

FAQs for out-of-state moving service projects in Waldorf, MD

How much money you need to live comfortably in Hawaii varies based on your housing preferences, transportation needs, and lifestyle. Many residents find ways to manage on moderate incomes by choosing less touristy neighborhoods and adapting to local living patterns. Creating a detailed budget that accounts for housing, transportation, groceries, and utilities provides a clearer picture of your specific requirements.

Living in Hawaii on $3,000 monthly is possible with careful budgeting and lifestyle adjustments. Success largely depends on housing costs, which vary significantly between neighborhoods and islands. Many residents find shared living arrangements or smaller accommodations in less expensive areas help manage expenses. Prioritizing necessities, limiting dining out, and embracing local recreational options that don't require significant spending can help stretch your monthly budget while still enjoying island living.

The hidden costs of moving to Hawaii often include unexpected shipping surcharges, agricultural inspection fees, and initial setup expenses. Many newcomers are surprised by delivery access fees for difficult locations, temporary accommodation needs while waiting for household goods, and higher utility deposits. Island-specific expenses like specialized pest control services and humidity-resistant storage solutions may also become necessary. Building a contingency fund of 10 to 15% above your estimated moving budget helps accommodate these unforeseen expenses.

How long it takes to ship household goods to Hawaii depends primarily on your chosen shipping method and departure location. Standard ocean freight often requires three to six weeks from mainland ports, with shared containers sometimes taking longer due to consolidation schedules. Air shipping dramatically reduces transit time to days rather than weeks, but at significantly higher cost. Many residents adopt a hybrid approach, sending essential items by air while allowing bulk possessions to follow by sea.

Whether you need special permits to move to Hawaii depends on the possessions you’re bringing. While American citizens don't need immigration documentation, certain items face strict regulation. Agricultural products, plants, and some animals require special permits or inspection certificates. Vehicle importation requires specific documentation and potential emissions testing. Large shipping containers may need delivery permits in certain residential areas. Consulting with transportation specialists familiar with Hawaii's requirements helps avoid compliance issues.

The items you’re prohibited from shipping to Hawaii include numerous plants, seeds, and fresh produce that might introduce invasive species to the islands' delicate ecosystem. Certain animals face strict prohibition, particularly snakes and other potential invasive species. Hazardous materials, firearms without proper documentation, and controlled substances cannot be shipped. Review current prohibited items lists from shipping companies and Hawaii's Department of Agriculture before packing, as regulations can change, and violations may result in significant penalties.
