"I had got my House Inspected from Mark on Aug 2022. everything went fine until I moved into the house. Couple of months after move-in I found old dried water marks in storage and HVAC room in my basement. I was hoping that these water marks were owing to old water heater leaks but then in early 2023 there was heavy rainfall and the HVAC room basement started leaking water into the room. It was then I found that there was a crack in the basement wall. This crack is next the furnace duck and quite easily visible. Mark suggested that he is a season home inspector but I doubt because he missed visible evidence of prior basement flooding and a basement crack that was easily visible. I contacted Mark and send him proofs of his grave mishaps. He asked for proofs whether i have applied the suggested fix per inspection report, to which I promptly responded and then he stopped responding on my emails. He is not the person to get you house inspected"

"I hired Marty to perform a home inspection on a home I was interested in buying. I was so impressed by his work so I hired him again for another home. His work is superb. He takes his time and really analyzes every square inch of the home. He answered all of my questions thoroughly and also explained anything he found with great detail. His prices are cheaper than anyone else and his work is expensively performed. He is a true professional and I would highly recommend him to anyone."

"Overall, I'm satisfied with a passing grade. Initial appointment and set-up (with Jenn) for the service were above average(4/5). The mitigation test was done correctly and promptly. Setting the appointment for the installation was easy. The overall installation was satisfactory. However, it was below my expectations as (1) a dedicated separate electric outlet should have been used instead of an existing one I used in the garage for my mosquito control unit. If required, an additional outlet is included in the estimate for the work provided. (2) the fan's wire should have been appropriately put, as any loose wires (which we had) might have been caught in the garage tracks. Below the grades given for James Soos (the guy with the cowboy hat), I would give him a below grade for his interaction with customers (not friendly acts like these jobs are below his grades). He also messed up our porch and carpets with his dirty shoes. My expectation for people who come inside our house is to have shoe protection. I would give him a failing grade (2/5). Otherwise, the installation was okay, and the tech who installed the fan and the pipes was excellent (4/5). Additional electric work James Soos (the cowboy hat guy) did was above average (4/5), though not personable (2.5/5). Post mitigation testing was done properly and was easy."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Warren, NJ

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
