"We have a slight hill at the end of our gravel driveway, which washed out pretty badly during the recent hurricane rains. I was looking for someone to repair this, and get us another year out of the gravel driveway before we have it paved. I called three different companies, and Bill Cooper was the one who gave me the best explanation of what needed to be done. He wasn't trying to push me towards an expensive new driveway, but rather gave me options to do it right. In the end, we covered the loose gravel with a milling base, which looks better and sets me up to pave the driveway in a year or so, when it has appropriately settled. I think Bill really knows his stuff, and I'm very happy with the way things turned out."

Small jobs welcome

"So glad I chose Collin’s Paving! My 10 year old driveway has never been resealed and Cody was not only reasonably priced but took the extra care to attend to some cracks that were forming due to tree roots and really coat the crumbling edges well. I will not be using him next time I have it sealed and recommend him to anyone."

"TJ from Quality Paving was very responsive in terms of communication. We had an extension added to our driveway and also had the entire driveway sealed. It looks great and a minimal seam now adjoins the old asphalt to the new. Prices were also competitive with other quotes in the area. I’ll go with them again in the future."

"John Donohue’s Asphalt Paving Company arrived when they said they would, removed loose and badly broken areas, fill holes, and install a hot mix asphalt 2 inch think for a complete overlay. "Absolutely great!! Rebecca, the owner, came out promptly and gave me an estimate for the job. She was knowledgeable, professional and responsive to my questions. We agreed on a price and set a date for the project. Her team was at my home promptly, began work quickly, did not stop until the work was complete. Rebecca's husband, Neal, led the 4-5 man crew; they worked very well together and were open for my questions. Unlike other contractors, they used 4" of asphalt (pre-compacting); their work was exceptional! A few days after job completion, I had a question to which Rebecca responded promptly; she stopped by my home so we could talk one on one. Highly recommend A-Pak Paving"

"Communication was great, price was great, time to deliver was great. End product was not so great. My 2yr old driveway was damaged in certain areas after we had large equipment brought in for a backyard remodeling project. I didn’t go with the original company who put in the driveway due to costs, which I regret now. The length of my driveway has some minor wavyness to it where you can tell they stopped and started the paving machine. It isn’t so bad that it bothers me, so I would consider that part sufficient and am not holding that against them. The problem is/was the pad in front of my garages. My pad used to drain to behind my second garage which backs to the side of my yard, so it was out of sight, out of mind. After their work my pad now drains to my back yard and floods a walkway I have there. You can easily see large various dips throughout the pad, one which creates a 12 ft long puddle in the driveway. I contacted the company and they came out and told me puddling was expected, and they list that in their paperwork, which to their credit they do mention puddling may occur. However I assumed that meant maybe a random 12in puddle, not a large, deep puddle. The owner offered to mill the driveway down to further enable the drainage out of the puddle, or to give me a free sealant application as a resolution. Neither are ideal to me as I paved the whole driveway vs just repairing individual broken sections so the driveway would be uniform and you wouldn’t be able to pick out repaired sections. Sealant wouldn’t fix my problem and the milling would obviously leave remenants of “patch work” being completed which avoiding that was the whole point of redoing the entire driveway. Of course this also wouldn’t resolve my issue of the driveway draining to the wrong area. In addition to this they got tar on my garage doors, side entry doors, a vinyl fence I have, and I have tar boot prints now on a stone walkway I have. I had to repaint and scrub after the job was complete to get off what I could. I didn’t have this type of issue when I originally had the driveway installed by another company, so with more careful action I know this all could of been avoided. They also had access to open and close my garage doors at will which they did. Second opinions from other asphalt companies I currently getting quotes to fix the issue, have confirmed this puddling and dips should not be present. Pictures show the puddle, and then the puddle after being filled with a hose to show were it would drain to if it is filled with a stream of water."

Customers say: Quick response

"John was quick in providing me with an estimate and presenting me with a thorough brief on what I could expect. He recommended repair vs a fully new asphalt driveway as one other had recommended. While determining which of the three contractors to hire, John stopped by to follow up and offered to complete it right then while his crew was in the area if that is what we wanted. I said yes, and by the time we returned home we had a newly surfaced driveway with excellent results at a good price. He even did my neighbor after mine the same day."

"Cody uses higher quality products than others, so his prices are slightly higher as a result, but really not by much at all. When you consider long term wear and lifetime of the asphalt it will end up saving you money over your lifetime of owning your home, so the 3% upfront is very well worth it. He is a skilled tradesman and does great work, he was efficient and through. I would gladly hire hm again for future resealing or if we were to move."

FAQs for asphalt paving repair or patch projects in Warrenton, VA

With routine maintenance, a new residential asphalt driveway can last 15 to 20 years. In regions with heavy rain or freeze-thaw cycles, plan on extra maintenance to hit the upper end of that range. Concrete surfaces last even longer, from 20 to 25 years. Regular sealing and quick crack repairs go a long way toward preserving both materials.

You can pour new concrete over an existing driveway as long as the base slab is solid. Pros often place a three- to four-inch overlay to create a strong bond. If the old concrete is cracked or spalling badly, it’s wiser to remove it and start fresh to ensure durability.

Keep the surface in top shape by sealing it on schedule and tackling damage right away. Roll on a quality seal coat every three years for asphalt, and reseal concrete as needed while patching any flaws you spot. Staying ahead of small issues prevents bigger, pricier repairs and keeps your driveway looking sharp.
