"After moving into our new house, my wife wanted a new look to the dated kitchen, so I decided that after work and on weekends, I would sand, stain, and refinish the cabinets. After several dozen hours of work, regret set in as blisters formed on my fingers from the sanding and the stain wasn't giving me a uniform color. I then contacted Pyramid Granite. "I contacted Omar about a job to repair a section of drywall in a kitchen that was damaged by a bathroom leak, and then to paint the entire kitchen ceiling after the repair. After taking a look at some emailed photos of the area, Omar provided a fair estimate - less than the most expensive estimate I got, but more than an estimate from another handyman. Omar was very responsive in providing the estimate within 24 hours, and also was able to start the job within 1-2 days after agreeing on the estimate. On the day, one of Omar's crew members, Benevicio(?), showed up on time, confirmed what needed to be done, and then began covering all of the areas with tape and plastic protection from dust and painting, as well as covering the floors between the front door and the repair area with drop cloths. He did what was needed to repair the sheetrock, and then painted the entire kitchen ceiling with the paint that I provided. He was careful to avoid contact with the walls, since we discussed that I didn't have paint to repaint the walls, only the ceiling. As other reviewers have mentioned, B. took care to protect the areas from dust and paint - covering all the walls, sealing off the open kitchen with a plastic divider, covering the floors, and wearing shoe covers - which I certainly appreciated. And, he was conscientious about clean-up after the job, to try to leave the work site as he found it. The job he did with the drywall repair and painting was also top-notch. I've had a number of sheetrock repairs done in our home, and this was one of the more flawless repairs - it's almost impossible to see the joints between the drywall patch and the original drywall, which is difficult to make happen. I appreciate the attention to detail and skill, so I won't hesitate to call Omar agin."

"This company rebuilt a badly deteriorated cement-block retaining wall which supports my elevated driveway, repaired numerous concrete sidewalk cracks and a crumbling step, replaced an ugly, old, insecure chain-link gate with a beautiful steel door, and installed attractive brick borders around a couple of small garden spaces (after also cleaning up those weedy spaces). The price was more than fair; I'm very pleased with the work, timeliness and charming personality. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them again."

"The owner of Stone Depot, Nick Papas, offers hands on professional service.   I am a realtor, so great service is part of my professional standard and I appreciate it in others.  Nick was always available by phone and was very responsive.  I was nervous about selecting my granite, and I changed my mind at the last minute.   Nick was very gracious and allowed me to select another granite that I preferred. His team arrived for the installation on time and did an outstanding job.  The was a minor issue with caulking, and Nick sent someone out the next day to finish it off.  I could not be more happy with my granite and Stone Depot.  I was advised to personally select my slab of granite - which I did.  All granite is different, so that was good advice.  The location for selection was in Sterling VA, which was great for me since I live in VA.
I also checked out Counter Intelligence, but found the salesman was not very concerned and did not go the extra mile to get my business.  I  had to drive all the way to Silver Spring MD to look at samples of granite slabs.  That was to far to go.  Also, their price quote was higher.  The smaller company atmosphere at Stone Depot was a much better choice for me.  I highly recommend them!

"I received A+ service from Granite Works. I met Bruno Valente, one of the co-owners, on my first visit. He was very friendly and helpful, not pushy like some sales people. The slab I liked the best was marked sold.  In a follow up discussion with Bruno, my brother found out that the sister to that slab was available. Bruno gave it a rating of 11 on a scale of 1 to 10, and he was right.  Bruno held the slab for a few days until I could get there. Purchased it that day, and he held it for 5 months at no charge. Many companies my brother called on my behalf would not hold a slab longer than 30 days.
When my brother was visiting from out of town, they were kind enough to bring it out of storage so that he could see it.  That day, we met Art Rivera who spent considerable time with me us and provided invaluable advice about a new counter I was adding.  He also provided other design suggestions on the backsplash and paint color, which I followed with great results. That was an extra bonus I didn't expect. So, if Art gives you advice, you should definitely take it.
The templater, Glauber (hope this is the correct spelling), was extremely detail oriented and communicated well with my carpenter and his assistant. He made a suggestion for the end cap of the new counter and the handrail behind it that made it a true work of
art.  Gus Valente (co-owner), with assistance from Eduardo (stone cutter), did a great job of deciding what parts of the stone would go where in my kitchen and fireplace.  They have an amazing eye. I was so impressed by their finding parts of the slab in totally different areas that would best connect at the seams. The installers were terrific and that process went very smoothly. I have 2 seams that are barely noticeable.  Their work in the kitchen and my fireplace surround was impeccable.
Granite Works exceeded my expectations, and I'm very picky.  My counters are a work of art.

"We were in a bind and needed a previously installed granite countertop in the kitchen modified. We had a new refrigerator, and the door wouldn't open all the way back, bumping against the door jam. We needed to have the granite cut back about an inch to remedy the problem ( slide the refrigerator over a little). The problem was, we were having a new tile backsplash installed the following day, and needed the granite cut before starting that job. I called Granite Vision, and asked them if they could perform it the same day. They were unsure if they could fit it in the same day, but told me they would check on the possibility.  I was called back in a timely manner, and told that they could do it for me.  David arrived within a few hours of my call, and did a beautiful job.  He was very nice, neat, and did exactly what we needed. Thank you Granite Vision!!!  They could have just blown me off, and said they couldn't do this the same day as my call, but they didn't"

"The work took longer than anticipated, some due to factors beyond their control (suppliers delivering wrong tiles) but not all (workers not coming everyday or on days when scheduled or working full 8 hours).  They were not always on time, which often wasn't a big deal but the uncertainty was an issue when one of us had to stayed home from work to meet them.  The quality of the products is very high, but the quality of the installation was less so.  We had to have them come back several times to fix issues with the tiles and an electrical issue. They were very responsive and more than willing to keep working until we were completely satisfied, which by the end we were.  At the end, the kitchen looks beautiful and we really enjoy it.  I don't think the issues we had were anything out of the ordinary for a kitchen remodel, and we would consider using them again for future projects."
