"We had Sam, Bradley, and Mason assist us with a move from one part of King County to the other. They were kind, patient, professional, adhered to CDC COVID-19 guidelines, and made our experience much more pleasant. Moreover, Emma also helped us locate crating and packing materials for the move."

"American Relocation LLC adidas an amazing job. This was not an easy move. We moved out of an apartment first, then a storage until and into our new home all in one day. Michael and his team were so friendly, professional, punctual, and did not complain a bit. I would definitely recommend them and use them for my future moving needs."

"Luis and the team of movers were wonderful. They took great care packing and storing our belongings, including a piano, while we sold our home. Then about a month later, moved stuff out of a storage unit and brought a truckload of additional furniture and other belongings to our new home. Very professional and a good price. I’d recommend Movers on the was to anyone looking for professional movers."

"Awesome. Their team was on time, polite, thankfully no damage to the walls or staircase. That was very important because we have a narrow entrance and stairs going up to 2nd floor, and they somehow made it with the big stuff and left ZERO marks on the walls, I was pretty surprised but so so happy ?. When we got to Reston, drop off was pretty quick, furniture and our items were wrapped well with their blankets and bubble stuff, and I gave them some bottled waters as a thank you ?. I offered beers but they said no thank you, totally understood. Job well done, I was surprised, but once again very happy with their efficiency and service."

"Matt and his team were tremendous;  on-time, polite, hardworking.  Matt did a walk-through before starting the job to make sure they moved only what needed to go.  Once they began working, they didn't stop.  The heavy-duty truck they brought along was clean inside and out.  All blankets appeared to be very clean if not new.  Before they began the move, they laid new plastic runners on all floor/carpets.  They also attached a moving blanket to the front door jamb to make sure the woodwork wasn't damaged while carrying goods out of the house.  Everything was carefully wrapped, carried, and staged before being placed into the truck.  The house was left in mint condition. Matt and his team arrived around the same time I did at the new house and again got right to work off-loading.  In short, if you need to move, these are your guys.  You won't find a better company for a move within the U.S.

"495 Movers we're nothing short of excellent. They were on time professional responsive and efficient. Became prepared to do work and with an attitude of customer service seldom seen in the industry. We really did not only hire them again, but will recommend them to anyone who needs a mover within the DMV area. They moved everything including our special piano and our chest freezer and we're very conscious of both our apartment and our new home. Highly recommended and thank you so very much for all of your help!!!"

FAQs for out-of-state moving service projects in Washington, DC

How much money you need to live comfortably in Hawaii varies based on your housing preferences, transportation needs, and lifestyle. Many residents find ways to manage on moderate incomes by choosing less touristy neighborhoods and adapting to local living patterns. Creating a detailed budget that accounts for housing, transportation, groceries, and utilities provides a clearer picture of your specific requirements.

Living in Hawaii on $3,000 monthly is possible with careful budgeting and lifestyle adjustments. Success largely depends on housing costs, which vary significantly between neighborhoods and islands. Many residents find shared living arrangements or smaller accommodations in less expensive areas help manage expenses. Prioritizing necessities, limiting dining out, and embracing local recreational options that don't require significant spending can help stretch your monthly budget while still enjoying island living.

The hidden costs of moving to Hawaii often include unexpected shipping surcharges, agricultural inspection fees, and initial setup expenses. Many newcomers are surprised by delivery access fees for difficult locations, temporary accommodation needs while waiting for household goods, and higher utility deposits. Island-specific expenses like specialized pest control services and humidity-resistant storage solutions may also become necessary. Building a contingency fund of 10 to 15% above your estimated moving budget helps accommodate these unforeseen expenses.

How long it takes to ship household goods to Hawaii depends primarily on your chosen shipping method and departure location. Standard ocean freight often requires three to six weeks from mainland ports, with shared containers sometimes taking longer due to consolidation schedules. Air shipping dramatically reduces transit time to days rather than weeks, but at significantly higher cost. Many residents adopt a hybrid approach, sending essential items by air while allowing bulk possessions to follow by sea.

Whether you need special permits to move to Hawaii depends on the possessions you’re bringing. While American citizens don't need immigration documentation, certain items face strict regulation. Agricultural products, plants, and some animals require special permits or inspection certificates. Vehicle importation requires specific documentation and potential emissions testing. Large shipping containers may need delivery permits in certain residential areas. Consulting with transportation specialists familiar with Hawaii's requirements helps avoid compliance issues.

The items you’re prohibited from shipping to Hawaii include numerous plants, seeds, and fresh produce that might introduce invasive species to the islands' delicate ecosystem. Certain animals face strict prohibition, particularly snakes and other potential invasive species. Hazardous materials, firearms without proper documentation, and controlled substances cannot be shipped. Review current prohibited items lists from shipping companies and Hawaii's Department of Agriculture before packing, as regulations can change, and violations may result in significant penalties.
