"We hired Xtra Care to help us renovate our backyard, build a new deck, and install a new retaining wall, plus install some plants appropriate for the shade level of the yard, and build a walkway to address erosion of the soil along the side of our house. From our first encounter with Cleber, the owner, we were eager to work with them. Cleber had many ideas about how to better use the space we had (which wasn't much) and how we could accomplish our goals of having a space to sit, a space to eat, and a space to cook and grill outside. His enthusiasm and creative thinking helped us immensely. Angela's drawings and proposal arrived very promptly after our first conversation. We booked the 3D rendering as an additional option so we'd get a sense of what we were going to achieve with the space and their ideas. It was a smooth and interactive process; Angela took our questions and suggestions and modified the plans to better accommodate our goals, and I really appreciated the customer input form they include so they have a sense of what customers want before they begin. The process of digging out the yard, installing the new wall, the plants, and the deck, was addressed by three teams of people. CJ's team was taking on the hardscaping, and they were all meticulous with keeping the area as neat as possible, and with making sure the gates were closed afterward to keep our dogs inside. Diego's team installed the deck and demolished the old one, and I really appreciated that his crew reattached the old side stairs from the old deck to the back of the house so we and the dogs could get in and out safely. Tim's team took on the plant relocation (we had some hydrangeas we wanted to move, along with some yews and some hostas) and they were quick, considerate, and meticulous as well. Our experience was terrific from start to finish. Despite weather delays, supply delays due to the pandemic, and coordinating all the different pieces of the proposal, the project took only a few weeks, and we are so very happy with our new deck space. We have probably tripled the amount of usable space in our back yard. Xtra Care did a phenomenal job, and we'll hire them again to address our front yard and driveway area in the future."

"They were amazing. I mean it really looks good. I think that if I paid less, it might not have looked quite as good. They were really professionals that knew what they were doing. The way they did the retaining wall just looks really really nice. I would give them higher than an A in some way. They were so nice. There were so many of them, and they worked so fast. They were experts. The salesman was also excellent because he took into part what I was trying to convey, and he designed it. He kept showing me, and we kept sort of tweaking it. You want that. They were punctual. They were scheduled for a week or so later, and I called and asked if they could come earlier because they had an opening in their schedule. They like to keep their crews working constantly, and I had really wanted it done as soon as possible. So I agreed. They came and they were right on time. They worked very hard. He proposed a very robust solution that provided protection for our home and provided a really nice look for naturally correcting the problem. "Green Studio Builders (and specifically its owners, Chris and Nicoleta Papadopoulos) helped me take a financially devastating

situation with my house and turn it into an opportunity to create a home that I love. A little backstory: I bought my home in Hyattsville in 2009. It was a single family detached colonial with a three-story addition on the back-side of the house.  In 2010, I was told by a county inspector that the addition was un-permitted. It wasn?t clear until 2012 just how faulty the construction of the addition was. Long story short, it became clear that the repairs needed to bring the addition up to code were going to cost 150K or more. It took me a year find a way to finance the repairs. Once I had, I hired an engineer and architect to draft rough plans to inform estimates. Enter GSBuilders.

When I met with Chris for the initial walk-through of my home, he was sympathetic, attentive, and optimistic. I felt immediately at ease and could tell that he was an expert who would take great care in fixing the mess I?d inherited. He recommended a complete demolish and rebuild, adding valuable square footage and ensuring that things would be wholly right. He was the only contractor to suggest a complete rebuild. The added value was double the added cost! When his estimate came in as one of the most competitive for a rebuild, I was delighted.

Chris and Nicoleta made their support clear from the start. Chris spent his own time cleaning up the messes in the plans drafted by the architect and engineer I'd previously hired. He and Nicoleta both helped me navigate a personal health crisis in the middle of the project, meeting me on site to provide reassurance and welcoming me to their offices regularly with advice and espresso. Nicoleta spent hours helping me coordinate finishes. She acted as my designer at no extra charge. even making trips to tile stores and walking me through other finished project sites (with owner's permission) for inspiration. Nicoleta has a generous heart, exquisite taste, and great strategies for creating beautiful spaces on a budget.

I also owe a debt of gratitude to William Reyes, the foreman assigned to my project. When Chris and Nicoleta had to tend to a family crisis of their own, William stepped in and held my hand through every step of the project through completion. Every renovation has its hiccups and I always knew I could count on William (Mr. William as I took to calling him because he always called me Miss Pamela) to come up with a great solution that would keep the project on track. In some cases the obstacles became opportunities for improvement! I couldn?t have asked for better.

I could write for pages and pages about the specific ways in which GSBuilders saved my house and my sanity. Thanks to Chris and Nicoleta, my grief over this unexpected financial blow has become delight in my beautiful home.  I am forever grateful and cannot recommend their services highly enough. I can, however, offer individuals venturing into a project with GSBuilders some advice that will make everyone?s life easier.

1. Start your project with GSBuilders from the drafting stage.

My only regret is that I didn?t find and work with GSBuilders and their engineers and architects from the start. They have a well-coordinated team and the quality of the work for the price can?t be beat. Save yourself the headaches and trust them with it ALL!

2. Know the specifics of your budget and start collecting photos of spaces and finishes you love.



Nicoleta can work magic within your preferred style and budget, especially if you have specific price points for finishes and have a clear aesthetic. And even if you don't, Nicoleta will help you figure it out. That is tremendous added value.

3. Keep the GSBuilders team on speed dial and never hesitate to call.

Chris, Nicoleta, and William all made it clear to me from the start that they were willing to help at every turn, but sometimes I didn?t reach out because I didn?t want to be a bother. MISTAKE! It became clear that transparent and regular communication made everyone?s lives easier. The team always got back to me within hours if not minutes and was happy to be in the loop. A connected team is an empowered team.

4. Stop by the office. 



The espresso is hot and strong and you may even come on a birthday and get a cupcake! In any case, you?ll get a warm welcome and all the support you need to navigate your renovation.

"Neil and his team were just outstanding! He and his guys were excellent at diagnosing and addressing all of our issues. He was easy to talk with and explained things well. We feel he is very honest and really takes pride in doing a good job. He is also very responsive. We felt he worked very hard to get the job done well, on time and on budget.

"The booking process is done only through the phone - no email. When I called to schedule the painting, everyone that I spoke to was nice and respectful.  On the day of the painting, the painter showed up at 7:30 a.m. when I was told he was going to arrive between 8am and 9am.  The painter was nice and respectful.  The ceiling looked good after it was painted. I asked the painter to prime and then paint the bathroom walls and ceiling.  I brought the primer and Benjamin Moore bathroom paint to the bathroom. The painter only primed the ceiling. 
I had more painting that needed to be completed so I scheduled a follow up visit with the painter - 8 hours for about $400. Within 2 days the paint began to peel in the freshly painted bathroom. I called the company about the peeling paint and they said that they would have a painter come out and fix it. That did not happen. When the painter came out for 8 the hours of painting that I paid for, he said he did not have time to complete the new painting along with fixing the peeling bathroom.  He did verify that the bathroom was not primed before it was painted.  I immediately called the company to let them know that this painter was not going to fix the paint in the bathroom. I really did not get anywhere with the company during this phone call. I was promised a return phone call once my issue was further discussed at the office. I emailed them pictures of the peeling paint, but I never received an email or a call back. I decided it was not worth my time pursing, for it did not appear that this company was going to stand by their work. I can paint, so I decided to fix it myself.
One item to note is that holes and imperfections on the walls will not be fixed unless you specifically request this service. The painter did not patch any holes or large indentions in the wall. Instead, he just painted over them, leaving the holes and indentions intact. If you employ this painter, just make sure you are very specific on every detail.
The paint job in my bedroom and the hallway looks beautiful.
