"They were so good. I had been getting a hard sell from another company and didn't feel comfortable with their answers. I went to the Protech Environmental Services  website and they were so informative, even providing national geologic surveys in the area explaining about why certain areas have radon and why. Any company that interested in just providing this info for free on their website deserved my call. When I called i spoke to David. He was so patient answering all my questions. I asked a lot of questions. He was so forthright and knowledgable, just sharing and answering. This is the kind of company I want to do business with, one who is interested in helping me and my home. I was surprised how soon they were able to come in for the appointment. I had 3 men here and they were very respectful of my property. Explaining everything they were going to do as well as asking me where exactly I wanted the vent to go (it was in a corner so i could go out either of 2 walls) They even helped with that decision and showed me on the outside as well as a nearby room where the vent tube would be and made sure we wouldn't see it from any interior window (just really thoughtful). THere was very little mess and they explained everything thoroughly to me when I asked. Once finished they explained what they did and what I could expect. they also provided me with a third party radon test (so it's impartial). They left no mess. did their job. THe clear sump pump cover is brilliant because I can see down and be aware incase the pump or water level has issues. Very Very pleased with everything. Good company , good people.  <br />"

"I randomly chose Mike's name from a list of certified lead inspectors/assessors from the state's website and could not have been more pleased. He was 15 minutes early, explained everything in detail, and made sure he tested anything that worried me because he knew that I was paranoid. I would definitely recommend using his company for anyone looking for a lead inspector. He put my mind at ease and was very nice."

"Called several companies from Angie's List and Paul from Elite Mold Remediation was very responsive and came out the next morning. He gave us an expert assessment and educated us on the cause and type (non-toxic, common type caused by poor ventilation) which helped put our minds at ease. He unblocked the soffit vents which were covered by insulation and then applied a multi stage disinfectant which cleared the mold completely--all in one day. He did a great job at documenting and follow up. He is very easy going yet professional."

"RSM arrived 15 minutes before scheduled time. RSM explained the total process of the Lead Inspection/Risk Assessment. <br /> They walked us through the process and anwsered all our questions. They had 2 team members at our property to conduct the inspection. They used a piece of equipment called an XRF Analyzer that lets you know the lead content of every painted surface. It was a very detailed inspection. For example in each room they check every area - all walls, floors, every component of the windows and doors, in closets they checked everything even the shelfs and shelf support, baseboard , walls, ceiling and floor. They also checked every exterior area, the garage, the basement and the attic. They also did soil samples. Please call me if you need more info it was very detailed. <br />"

"On my initial call, I had to leave a message but Mindi called me back in a timely manner and we set up an appointment for a couple of days later. Aaron was scheduled to come after 3pm that day but he didn't show up until close to 5pm. He was extremely appologetic and said there was some kind of scheduling mixup. It was not a problem for me and he was genuinely remorseful about the mixup. I know things like that can happen. He took the sample from my siding even though it was difficult to get to and gave me his honest opinion that he did not think that it was asbestos siding. He did not pressure me to have it tested. I decided to do that anyway so that I could have proof for the insulation company. The results came within a few business days and confirmed Aaron's expert opinion that it was not asbestos siding. I thought this company was very honest and sincere to work with and would highly recommend them."

"<p>Home inspection report was received on May 16,  indicating mold in the crawl space.  </p> <p>We contacted AAA Standard Services and they sent an estimator out very promptly.  The major remediation work was completed by May 29, with final clean up and sealing of the crawl space completed the end of the following week. It is necessary to use a specialist when dealing with mold and this firm holds all of the required certifications. </p> <p> Although AAA does not put things back or rebuild, Adam at AAA also assisted in obtaining two quotes from building contractors to re-install the drywall and bathroom vanity and toilet.  We elected to use a different more local and less costly contractor for the re-installation.  However, it was very useful to hear from the other builders, and if you were in a crisis, there would have been someone to do the job..</p> <p>After the major work was finished, we arranged to use the environmentalist, Ms. Vicki Johnson,  who works with AAA Standard Services. Sometimes she is involved earlier.   She tested the air and materials to determine that all mold was removed.  We understand that the environmentalist requested that additional sealing of the wood frame was done by her staff to be sure the mold was gone and would not recur.  This work was completed without any extra charges to me.   We are expecting to receive a certified clearance letter shortly.  Ms Johnson assured me via telephone that the letter has been mailed. </p> <p>My B rating on punctuality resulted from a delay in the arrival of the workers to clean and reinstall the visqueen and rescheduling of the environmentalist appointment.  Otherwise the firm performed very well.  The B rating on cost is that this work is expensive and you really don't have much of a choice in who to use. I did not get another quote.  <br /> <br /></p> <p><br /></p> a <br />"

"Unfortunately this is the 3rd time in 2 years (different houses, different issues) that I have had to use On site.  This time it was to test and remove mold in my basement but I have also used them to remove water and dry the room out.  <br /> Everyone I spoke with warned me that mold remediation companies would use scare tactics to oversell services and charge extremely high rates.  Not at all the case with On site.  Each time I have worked with Jason who is both knowledgeable and professional.   <br /> Jason reassured me that I had a manageable concern, worked with me every step of the way and made me feel confident that the issue had been resolved without going "overboard".   I appreciated his continuous follow-up and the entire team's commitment to quality.    <br />    <br /> I have referred others to On site in the past and they have all been very satisfied with their work and pricing.   <br />"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Waterford, MI

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
