"It went great. I highly recommend them. They were a pleasure to deal with. The person that came out for the estimate answered all of my questions. The estimate was fair. The work was done on schedule and with no problem. At completion, everything was explained to me. I used their electrician which worked out fine. After completion the radon test showed that my level was now undetectable."

"I had PureTech install a radon gas abatement system which lowered my levels from the high teens all the way down below 2 on average. Zach, the technician, was super helpful and great to work with. They even leave this really nice package behind. Results speak for themselves. I recommend PureTech."

"We bought a home a few years ago.  The owners said that they installed drain tile in the basement.  So we were unpleasantly surprised to go down to the basement one morning to find several square feet of standing water (1 - 2 inches deep) in different areas of the basement. The previous owners had left us the paperwork from the installation of their drain tile, which showed that US Waterproofing had done the work.  So we called them.
We were pleasantly surprised to hear that they were more than willing to stand by their work, and they sent a representative to visit us within a few days to take a look. From the inspector, we learned that the previous owners had installed drain tile only in one corner of the basement (serves us right for not looking at that more carefully).  The US Waterproofing representative agreed that an area of damp floor in the basement was covered by their guarantee and that they would fix it by applying another coat of sealant.  I want to again point out that they did the work for a previous owner but honored the work for us.
The representative also pointed out that 90% of the water problem we were experiencing was due to water appearing in areas of the basement that they had not worked on, and due to water from that area flowing down into the area where they did the work. The representative meticulously demonstrated to us why it was clear this was the case and, yes, it was clear.  The representative offered a few ideas for how the problem could be fixed.  The most expensive--but also the one that he said they could guarantee 100%--was to dig a trench and install drain tile.  It was a big price tag but water in the basement is a huge problem.
With such a big price tag, we decided to call two other companies to get second opinions. They confirmed everything that US Waterproofing said (including which part was due to their work and which part was not).  They also said they could install drain tile for us, and their estimates were within 10% of US Waterproofing.  Since we already knew that US Waterproofing stands by their work we decided to go with them.  It took us almost a year to save for the project, during which time we experienced some more water in the basement (sometimes a couple inches worse than before) but we finally scheduled it. (The reason we're giving them a 'B' for pricing is that we know the price is 'good' compared to other firms--in other words, about the same.  But hey, when it's a good company, I'm not sure you can also expect it will be less expensive than the norm..)
The US Waterproofing crew came to do the work.  They arrived on time, and man they worked hard! As you might know, installing drain tile requires jackhammering a narrow trench around the perimeter of the basement, hauling all the cement pieces and soil out of the basement and then installing the system.  They did their work efficiently, they did it with a minimum of mess (amazing given how much stuff they were pulling out of the basement), and they finished as planned on time.
We decided to wait a full year before giving this review.  During the past year, we had some of the same kinds of heavy rains we experienced in the previous year.  Not a drop of water in the basement.  We also had a winter that came close to beating the record for the highest amount of snowfall ever, and much of it melted within a week or so.  We held our breath and experienced no water.  Last night there was a huge rainstorm.  Water was rushing out of our gutters like a firehose and there was a flash flood in our street--we had to move our cars because the water level in the street was so high that water was flowing into the car doors.  Again, the US Waterproofing system held up."

"This company is great to work with. They did some mold testing on parents’ home and did excellent work. They also did some work on my home. They replaced a water heater and bathroom fans. He was easy to get a hold of, personable and come over right away."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Burlington, WI

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
