He was late making our 2-hour scheduled window due to previous customer time, however, he called me to let me know he'd be late and also called when he was on his way. "Ken bid the work in the winter after doing a very brief walk through of the house. We told him it could be out a ways as we had to get the contractor in to replace the woodwork first. We contacted him in the summer to do the work. I had asked at the time if he needed to make adjustments to the bid in light of the season and workload change but he kept to the original bid. We asked if he needed us to move furniture or prep the house beforehand and he said no. When the work was completed we were out of town so we had a relative let the contractors in. Ken was here the first day but not for the duration of the project and when we got home there were some quality issues some damaged furniture items and mess left by the painters so we contacted Ken to see if he would mind doing a walk through with us. There were drips in high visibility places and areas where it looked like the paint had partially dried so brush strokes where pretty bad. They also had gotten large quantities of paint on the carpet in several rooms and had missed some items altogether.

When I contacted Ken (via email) he was very quick to respond but immediately got defensive and acted frustrated that I had emailed him on a weekend (apparently he was away with his wife at the time). I told him I had just sent a note while it was fresh in my mind and he could contact us when he was back. At which point he called out that he had given me a good deal and if I didn't want to pay him I didn't have to...I had never mentioned or intended to hold payment and told him so. I just asked that he see the issues and correct what was fixable (keeping in mind we told him we were not going to make him replace broken items, repair carpet or redo the shoddy work). I just wanted him to assess what I was seeing and fix the drip marks and missed items.

He continued to respond blaming the fact that the trim install was poor, that we hadn't moved furniture and that he had cut is a deal in peak season (at which point I reminded him that we asked if he needed to revise his bid or have us prep the house). In the end he sent the job staff out to fix things but I would not recommend using Ken again. He is quick to respond and gives a very competitive price but I firmly believe you get what you pay for. I've worked with Ken previously and have always thought highly of him but this experience was disappointing. In the end I paid him for the full cost of the work even though he forgot to include the cost of painting several doors in his final invoice and the work was shoddy. I have since been sanding and redoing trim areas where the paint quality was poor and have opted to paint out a child's bedroom myself as my work is better than what Ken's painting provided. I will not be calling him again and although I'm often asked for referrals for contractors, I won't be giving his name out.

"I am getting ready for a new kitchen and am acting as an owner contractor, so needed a lot of little things done that a general contractor (like Mark) would normally oversee. Great communication with owner Mark prior to job; he made recs for other contractors I have hired. Day of, there was a little scheduling mix-up, but, soon remedied. Mark and Travis quickly pulled out my old cabinets in great shape so they can go to Rebuilding Center. Then after this was done, Travis took over for the rest of the weekend. He was organized, capable, efficient and thorough, checking with me frequently to make sure projects were meeting my expectations. Both he and Mark frequently said "We just want you to be happy" which is a position I sincerely wish everyone in my life would take! When things came up, as they invariably do, solutions were quickly found, with various outcomes clearly explained. When I originally outlined my project for Mark, he estimated that my do list would exceed the 16 hours I contracted for and this was indeed the case. I plan to finish this project with them. As a single woman, I sometimes feel patronized or, occasionally, have had contractors try to take advantage of my presumed ignorance. I never once felt that these two were anything but respectful, courteous, and desirous of meeting fully my expectations. I would not hesitate to hire them again. I wish my budget would have allowed me to let them manage the whole project!

"I was satisfied with the appointment set up, etc. but when the time of appointment, two people showed up, a man and a woman.   They knocked on the door and said they were going to walk around the house first on the outside.  It was a very cold, rainy day and it was muddy around the house in some places.
When they came in, they did not bother to take off their shoes and because my crawl space is in the back of my house, in a bedroom closet, they drug dirt throughout the house.  Then the young man proceeded to go under the house.  He took his shoes off then and put on a coverall.    He did not put anything down to keep the carpet or protect my clothing in closet.  I was glad I had put down a small rug by crawl space entrance.  When he came out,, he put back on his dirty shoes and proceeded to walk back through the house, and in the kitchen to write up an estimate.
I did not feel his price was reasonable and would not use them.
