"Dan and his crew did a fantastic job. They were professional, courteous and very cognizant of the yard, shrubs and surroundings. Dan offered suggestions that were helpful and provided insight on the project that really added to the beauty of the project. While he wasn't the lowest bid, we had seen his work on a neighbor's house and were very comfortable we were getting the best expertise for the job, and great professionalism. There were as many as 9 guys on the job at various times and they were there everyday until the job was completed. Dan estimated that the job would take about two weeks and the job was completed in 9 working days. The quality was outstanding and Dan responding immediately to any questions or concerns that I had. My wife and I could not be happier with the finished product and we have received numerous compliments on our screened porch."

"B&W Complete Home Services (Ben and Ian) were on time, professional, knowledgeable, and fair. They are two personable, jolly, and good-natured men. I was actually so floored by how good of a job they did for such a great price that I gave them a tip. Ben and Ian diagnosed the problem (a broken seal and rusted pipe) and were able to replace these parts within two hours. While they were here, they even unclogged a slow-moving sink for me! Ben and Ian are two honest, talented, experienced contractors and I will be using B&W Complete Home Services for all of my home-repair needs in Kansas City for as long as I live here. I do not have a photo but will supply one later!"

"They did a great job, were careful, speedy, and helpful replacing things. They even got done early. They did all the walls, trim, and ceilings upstairs, and all the walls and trim in the basement. They then helped repair and paint my small deck outside. Overall, I was very happy with their work and would hire them again, and recommend them to others."

FAQs for deck or porch repair projects in Wellsville, KS

Composite and ipe hardwood decks provide the longest durability for your outdoor space. Composite decks last 30 years exactly, and ipe hardwood decks continue reliably for 75 years when maintained properly. Frequent cleaning and sealing preserve these materials and protect them against weathering. This exceptional endurance minimizes future repair needs and offers a solid, lasting investment.

Replacing your deck directly increases your home’s market value and enhances its curb appeal. A new deck returns between 50% and 65% of its cost in additional home value at resale. This upgrade not only modernizes your outdoor living space but also significantly bolsters buyer interest, ensuring that your investment adds both functionality and an attractive aesthetic.

You should replace your deck when visible signs of wear begin to compromise safety and functionality. The quality of maintenance and the durability of the chosen materials determine when a deck reaches the end of its life. For example, decks crafted from superior materials like mahogany or ipe hardwood can last over 50 years, while cedar decks require replacement after 15 to 20 years. Regular inspections help guide this decision.

Your deck needs to be replaced when clear structural issues compromise its safety. Indicators include soft spots, sunken boards, scattered wood shavings, and hollow sounds that indicate rot or pest damage. These symptoms show that simple repairs are insufficient to maintain a secure deck. A professional evaluation is essential to confirm whether full replacement is necessary to protect your outdoor living area.
