"This year we had the pleasure of working with John Guarino and his team at ProTEK Painting in Newton. We had used them for a small job a few years back, and I had been talking with him over the last few years about repainting our house once we had finished a bunch of repairs and renovations. Finally, this summer we were ready to go. We did our due diligence and had several contractors estimate the job. We chose ProTEK because, not only was their bid lower than the others, but they were highly recommended by so many of their customers. We were not disappointed. The painters were fast and professional. They cleaned up each day. Their prep work was well executed, and the paint job was excellent. We would highly recommend them. John Guarino is a joy to work with. He was very flexible about scheduling the job. As we discovered some additional work that needed to be done, that was not in the original contract, he was kind enough to just include it in the job at no extra cost. He is very focused on customer satisfaction, often saying: "The job's not finished until you're happy." It was very true. "I bought a really nice regency gas fireplace from South Shore Fireplace and couldn't have been happier with the way they treated me and completed the installation. They were the most attentive and considerate companies I approached which is why I went with them. We couldn't get the time of day from other fireplace stores. These guys were right on the ball from the start. Spent a lot of time going over the different stoves and options that go with them all. The installation was scheduled and went very well. Installers were very thorough and clean. This was a complete installation, needed the chimney as well as the stove. Everything was done perfectly and I couldn't be happier. Recently, the stove I picked had a recall and I was informed and updated by Scott as soon as he had news. This actually went on for a couple of months but Scott would contact me every couple of weeks and let me know what was going on. When the replacement part came in, they scheduled the work IMMEDIATELY and I met Jon, one of the senior techs and installers. Jon was on time, meticulous and thorough. Very clean and organized as you would expect a master craftsman to be. The repair went very well and made my stove run better than ever before. When your happy with a job someone does for you, you hardly ever write a review but something turns sour, people can't write one quick enough. When I need something done, I go online and read all the awful reviews of probably great companies so I do not hire them. This review is for all of you that are like me and come here to get the low down on a business. Do not hesitate to go with South Shore Fireplace. It is very hard to find craftsman who really care about what they do and also so nice to deal with. South Shore Fireplace will be my go to guys for the rest of my life. "We replaced a dated wooden mantle that was swallowed up in our living room with a 5x12 ft stone wall. Carlos was extremely helpful in material selection and mapping out the project. His quote was straightforward and accurate. His work speaks for itself as we are thrilled with the final product. I felt like Carlos respected my house, I think he was the neatest contractor I have ever used. He took out existing stone work and I was really happy about the minimal mess. I appreciate his punctuality and commitment to everything he said he would complete. I do think he charges a labor rate proportional to his results.
