"I would highly recommend Manny and his team to anyone in need of roofing services!! Manny was great at communicating about the project and making suggestions. The team arrived on time, worked efficiently and left everything clean. The quality of their work was excellent! Another family member had used Manny in the past and was also extremely happy with their new roof!"

"I had roof damage from heavy snow and ice. All Complete Construction responded quickly and provided a fair estimate right away and showed up on the scheduled day to install new roof on time. They installed roof while I was traveling. When I returned except for the new roof there was no trace that they had been there. Old damaged gutters were taken away, the work was neat and professional. We will definitely consider this company for future jobs."

"Every home owner eventually needs (or will need) a new roof. Expense is one of the driving factors that usually determines the vendor BUT a more economical long range decision should be made based on quality. Quality of product, installation and service are essential components of this decision. This is why we chose to go with Power for our new roof and gutters. EVERY interaction with each employee was customer-centric. They patiently listened to our requirements and concerns and then offered effective solutions during and throughout the entire process. (The warranty was also the best available.) Power is a large company with multiple locations across the country, ours was headquartered in Maryland but the work was completed in Virginia. This geographic distance did not adversely effect the outcome. From the initial salesperson (who took the gutsy risk of letting me visit and talk with two neighborhood customers while he waited outside before signing our contract) through the schedulers, work execution and Quality Control final inspection we were well pleased. The work started on time and was completed on time. Numerous personal phone calls and visits by the Power inspectors provided us with the comforting conclusion that we made the correct choice for a truly professional contractor. (The ONLY minor problem for the ENTIRE process was an oil stain from their air compressor on one of our paving blocks.) With our 50 year labor and product warranty I doubt we will need to redo our roof in our lifetime BUT if we move we would definitely chose Power again! Check the Better Business Bureau reviews and complaints and you will easily see that Power is a responsive and reasonable company to work with. Need a new roof? Power is your answer! Note that our project included house (2050 sq ft) replacement of all substandard 3/4” roof decking with code 7/16” decking (2080 sq ft) and also included reroofing of standalone shed (100 sq ft) minus decking replacement/gutters."

All took me is just one phone call, Dennis showed up immediately in person, check the situation gave very reasonable quotes, scheduled immediately and kept the promise got the jobs done as scheduled even at extremely hot day. Very happy with Dennis's work, highly recommended, very reliable and honest."

"All as promised, perhaps left in better shape (clean-up, lack of marring to ceiling) than we even expected. Spotted and fixed roof issue on shed project. As you would imagine for the quality, the timetable can be a tad slow for eager project initiators."

"Dave, the owner, is very knowledgeable, courteous and professional. After showing him the ceiling damage, he went up top on the roof, investigated and promptly diagnosed that there were several issues with the vent pipe, placement of shingles and flashing. He set up a date to come back and did all of the repairs himself very efficiently and cleaned up beautifully. I felt the price was justified considering all the work involved and our rooms have been bone dry since his careful work. Dave's office staff was also top notch. Couldn't be happier with the results. I recommend Sky Tech Construction highly and would gladly use them again in the future for roofing or any construction job."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in West Milford, NJ

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
