"This was a fantastic, easy experience. I would highly recommend Tom's company for this work. We were partially moved in when ResCom came to our aid. The area where they needed to install was a mess, and they cleaned it up. It's a pleasure to work with companies who know what the job needs and they just do it. <br />"

"They were fantastic and we were absolutely trilled. He came when he said and did what he said he was going to do. The reduction and amount of radon in the basement was better than expected."

"Our fan went bad after 3 years. We had Certified Radon (original installers) come out to replace our fan. Something was not properly sealed and moisture trips the circuit. Now that fan trips the circuit breaker, my sump pump is on the same circuit. They will not come and fix their install problem for over a month. The only advice was to TURN OFF MY FAN for the 5 week wait, so that my sump pump will work. Disappointed."

"John, with Premier Inspection Services, showed up fifteen minutes early and was ready to go. His inspection was thorough and his approach to and execution of the inspection was the ultimate in professionalism. At the end of the inspection, he explained, in detail, the issues and action items, and told us that his inspection report would be sent to us, via E-mail, by 11:00 p.m. that same night. When I got up the next morning, I found his inspection report attached to an E-mail that was received at 10:58 p.m. Now, that's professional from start to finish!"

"We recently had the opportunity to hire and work with Jerrod Turnbow of J & K Property Inspections LLC when purchasing our home in Blue Springs MO. My wife and I were were extremely pleased with the process and the outcome of the inspection. Our realtor had recommended Jerrod to us. Jerrod was professional in demeanor but was also personable. He had the ability to explain technical aspects of our house to us in terms that we could not only understand but also appreciate the what and why. Jerrod was not an alarmist, but he was thorough. He clearly communicated each issue and gave his opinion as to the level of concern for each item. He uncovered several issues that we were totally unaware of but also gave us some insight into the correction process. He also provided several recommendations that we incorporated into the house after closing. Be sure and ask him about the importance of testing for radon. Overall, our experience with Jerrod was pleasant and contributed to creating value and confidence in our new place. We would certainly engage his services again if we should ever choose to move again."

"David was excellent from start to finish. He was methodical in his inspection of a home I was looking to purchase. He actually climbed into every space and up on the roof where a lot of inspectors will just bypass places. I asked that the main sewer line be inspected and he hired a subcontractor for that work. The sewer specialist was impressive in his knowledge and honesty...so much so I plan to use him for future work. David reviewed all his findings before we left and made sure I did not have any questions. I had the full report before the days end. Based on things David found I decided not to purchase the home. I look forward to using Block Home Inspections on my next potential purchase."

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"We called and the lady from the Home Radon Detection came to our house on time.  The level detector showed high radon level and she recommended mitigation which her company does as well.  We set up an appointment and the father and son team came on time and performed service.  They told us the amount we paid includes the second test and told us to wait about 4 days before scheduling for second test.  When we called 2 weeks later, we got a voice mail and left a message.  She never returned our call.  A month later, we called her again.  This time she called us back but didn't want to come in to set up that weekend since she was planning on taking it off.  She told us she will call us back to let us know if she will come in that weekend or not. Well, the weekend has passed and no call from her yet.  This is why we gave low score on responsiveness and professionalism.  We don't think she doesn't want to retest.  We think we are no longer in her priority since we already paid.  We will be still waiting for her call."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Weston, MO

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
