"I am very pleased with Protech's service, from the first call I made to their office to get information to the quality of service the technicians provided.  The person I talked to on the phone was professional, friendly, and did not pressure me to use their service.  He was informative, and quickly sent me a quote via email.  The job was scheduled within one week and two service people came out on time, and I could not believe how quickly they worked!  They said they do 3 jobs a day.  They did a neat, professional job and it's been installed for about 3 weeks and it works like it is supposed to.  Before the system was installed the radon level was between 4.1 and 5.6 and now it's less than 0.3 which I understand is less than a detectable amount.  I chose this company off of Angie's List because of the good reviews, so I thought I should let other people on Angie's List know that I also recommend them. <br />"

"I randomly chose Mike's name from a list of certified lead inspectors/assessors from the state's website and could not have been more pleased. He was 15 minutes early, explained everything in detail, and made sure he tested anything that worried me because he knew that I was paranoid. I would definitely recommend using his company for anyone looking for a lead inspector. He put my mind at ease and was very nice."

"RSM arrived 15 minutes before scheduled time. RSM explained the total process of the Lead Inspection/Risk Assessment. <br /> They walked us through the process and anwsered all our questions. They had 2 team members at our property to conduct the inspection. They used a piece of equipment called an XRF Analyzer that lets you know the lead content of every painted surface. It was a very detailed inspection. For example in each room they check every area - all walls, floors, every component of the windows and doors, in closets they checked everything even the shelfs and shelf support, baseboard , walls, ceiling and floor. They also checked every exterior area, the garage, the basement and the attic. They also did soil samples. Please call me if you need more info it was very detailed. <br />"

"I can't say enough great things about this business. They were sent to us by our insurance company when we filed a claim. They were the best part of the clean up effort. I hope I don't need their services again but if I ever do need them I would not hesitate to call them."

"Unfortunately this is the 3rd time in 2 years (different houses, different issues) that I have had to use On site.  This time it was to test and remove mold in my basement but I have also used them to remove water and dry the room out.  <br /> Everyone I spoke with warned me that mold remediation companies would use scare tactics to oversell services and charge extremely high rates.  Not at all the case with On site.  Each time I have worked with Jason who is both knowledgeable and professional.   <br /> Jason reassured me that I had a manageable concern, worked with me every step of the way and made me feel confident that the issue had been resolved without going "overboard".   I appreciated his continuous follow-up and the entire team's commitment to quality.    <br />    <br /> I have referred others to On site in the past and they have all been very satisfied with their work and pricing.   <br />"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in White Lake, MI

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
