"<p>I called to schedule an estimate and they came out about a week later. After not receiving the estimate after a few days I e-mailed them to check the status. The lady responded to my e-mail within 10 minutes. Turns out they spelled my e-mail wrong. Not surprising because this happens often since I made my e-mail my name and people often misspell my name. I received the estimate soon after. I was able to accept the estimate online, and they were out here two days later to fix the walkway. </p>"

"Although it was later in the year than ideal for concrete sealing (our fault for procrastinating), Corey carefully waited for a string of nice weather days to ensure that the job would come out as expected. He also stated that if the weather did not cooperate then he wouldn't force it, which made us feel very comfortable. Additionally, he also undertands that little jobs often lead to bigger jobs or referrals. He literally jumps through hoops for odd handyman jobs and is currently working on a few more for us (some finish carpentry and wood staining). He has an extremelypositive attitude and is a pleasure to work with. I would not hesitate to have him do any sort of remodelling work."

"DRAIN TILE WORKS GREAT. THE CREW DID A GREAT JOB. BREAKING UP A FLOOR AND HAULING TONS OF CONCRETE AND GRAVEL IN AND OUT OF A BASEMENT IS DIRTY, DUSTY WORK. THEY DID A GOOD JOB TRYING TO KEEP THINGS AS CLEAN AS POSSIBLE. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP THE DUST COMPLETELY OUT, BUT I KNEW THAT GOING IN WITH THIS PROJECT."

"<p>Just wanted to drop a line or two and let you all know how impressed we were with both your workmen and their work.  In today's society, you just don't find companies that really do a great job, they usually just do enough to "get by".<br /> <br /><br /> <br />At times, without their knowledge, I was home and could hear some of the men talking.  Much to my surprise, their language and subject matter were always appropriate.  Don't find that much in the labor force today!  It spoke volumes to me.  When they did speak with us, they were always very kind and informative.<br /> <br /></p> <p>The work that was performed consisted of excavating the dirt to gain access to the footings on both sides of the foundation.  On the inside, they had to bust out the concrete floor and hand dig to the footing in order to install their brackets for the "unified lift system".  After installing the brackets, they attached special hydraulic equipment to the brackets which drove 3" diameter<br /> <br />pipes down to bedrock.  Next, they attached a hydraulic jacking system to each pier location.  Using their special vehicle with a unique hydraulic pumping system they attached hydraulic lines to each location and were able to do a controlled lift.  From what we understand, your company is one of the only ones that can perform this "unified lift".<br /> <br /> <br /> <br />We were taking pictures daily and emailing them out to family and friends who could not believe their eyes!  They started out making our basement look like a bomb went off and when they were done it was swept and looking very nice!<br /> <br /><br /> <br />All this to say that the work done was absolutely astonishing!  We will highly recommend EHM to everyone that we hear may need this type of work completed.<br /> <br /><br /> <br />Thanks so much again.  We were dreading having this work completed, but you all made it so much nicer by your<br /> <br />expertise, kindness, and professionalism.</p> <p>Mike and Cheryl <br /> <br /></p> <br />"

"The work was performed by Rick Klunck and his brother.  Rick Klunck is the owner of Quality Concrete and Construction, Inc. <br /> The sidewalk and patio were OK.  The problem was with the patio step.  The step was pitched towards the house instead of away from it.  There was also no caulk between the step and the foundation joist.  This resulted in water in the basement when it rained.  I caulked the step myself to stop the water from getting into the basement, but because the step is pitched towards the house, water pools against the foundation joist. <br /> I telephoned Quality Concrete at their listed number of (920) 458-1125.  You always get a recorded message when you call.  I left a message to return my call, and Rick Klunck called me that evening.  I explained the problem to him, and he said he would come and take a look at it that week.  He never showed up.  I telephoned four more times after that and left a message each time.  He never returned any of those calls and never showed up to inspect the work. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Whitelaw, WI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
