"Overall, this was a great experience! I called the company late Monday afternoon and got a call back within an hour. I was able to get an appointment the next day due to a cancellation they had. My technician, Justin, arrived on time and worked very efficiently. I asked a lot of questions before and during the procedure and he took the time to show me and explain what he would be doing at each step. That brought me peace of mind. Justin carefully chipped away the concrete around the pipe and found the gaps between the foundation and pipe (which he showed me). He cleaned the areas, inserted copper tubing into the gaps, packed the area with cement and then injected an expanding urethane product into the tubes to fill the gaps. Once the areas were filled, he cut the tubes and capped everything with a large rubber patch. The final product is very neat, clean, and I have a dry basement for the first time in over a month. Prior to this, I had terrible experiences with a number of contractors who either would not touch the job or would only do it as part of a replacement of the whole pipe in from the well (at a cost of over $2000). This company handled the job within a few hours for for under $600. I'm very pleased with the work and although I hope I do not have trouble like this in the future, I would definitely call them back if I had similar needs."

"Jason Kirby and crew did an excellent job, with fine craftsmanship and attention to detail. This job was to replace a stucco and half timber exterior wall on a historic 1920's English Tudor, so that it matched the detailing and craftsmanship to the rest of the house. Jason assembled a highly skilled team. They competed the job on schedule, Jason communicated regularly about status and next steps, and I couldn't be happier with the result (looks original to the house). Jason's fees are very reasonable, and I would recommend him for any job involving masonry, having worked with him in the past on brickwork as well."

"I received quotes for three different options - the cedar fence, an alternative in vinyl, and a repair of the broken fence. The sales guy was very easy to get hold of and provided the quotes promptly. I went with the cedar and it was installed in two days. For some reason, the old fence posts had been sunk in concrete, and all the concrete had to be removed. The yard was cleaned up both days, and the fence came out really nice. <br> <br>18 months later, the fence still looks good."

"It went great. We were in good hands with the Ranieri family throughout the entire project. They are extremely reliable, diligent about keeping us informed about the process, and deeply knowledgeable about concrete deck installation and pool installation and care. Our 30+ year old 20x40 inground pool had crumbling old pavers around it and the pool plumbing needed replacing before we could put a deck in. The Ranieris were a one-stop-shop for this work. They replaced the plumbing, installed a new skimmer box, and poured a gorgeous curved edged 10' patio on one side and 4' deck around the rest of the pool. They are excellent communicators, keeping us informed all throughout the process and coordinated directly with our electrician to get the new ground wire installed and permitted before they poured. No hiccups at all with this process. This work happened this spring 2022, so there were supply and delivery issues with concrete that are outside of the contractor's control. From our perspective, the wait wasn't too bad, and the Ranieris kept us informed every step of the way. Their work is both art and science. We love what they built for us. We would hire the Ranieris for any future projects, and we highly recommend them."

"Jason (owner of Grow & Mow) along with his crew continue to impress us with their customer <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> service and hard work.  Jason performed our spring clean up and as he has done in the past ? continued his efforts in <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> making sure the customer is happy with his company?s work.  We also wanted some arborvitaes planted for <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> one side of our yard (in the fall of 2014, Jason was able to keep intact a well sculpted wooded barrier for us with our neighbors when we were preparing for a new lawn installation and this year we wanted to install a more full natural <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> barrier on our other side of the house).  Jason was able to plant the trees without disturbing/harming our new <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> lawn.  He was so great in explaining how often we should be watering the new trees as well as setting into place a soaker <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> hose to make watering the trees easier for us.  He also planted some new bushes as well transported an old bush to a new destination in our yard.  <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> We noticed that a section of our new lawn was getting trampled from walking from our back deck to the side yard (same path being taken) so Jason designed and installed a new stepping stone path to address this issue.  He did a great job (nice and level and it has added to the beauty of the new lawn while resolving this issue).  Jason is very customer service <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> focused and even called us a few weeks after everything was completed to check in on how everything was regarding the new stepping stones and the watering of the trees.  We are so happy with his work and will definitely continue to contact him for future work projects. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Vinny was very professional and did an amazing job creating the exact patio I wanted. He worked with me to choose the best patio pavers and fire pit kit. He kept his committed start date and finished the job in just a couple days. The results were incredible. I couldn't be more happy with the outcome."

"Bob and his team were great. Met twice before the work to go over our ideas on what we wanted. He offered better suggestions on court placement. Our original location would flood during heavy rain and would be lots of work to make usable for a court. Decided on a drier location in our backyard which actually works better and gives more privacy. Texting was a great way to communicate, we never felt ignored even though Bob was busy with other jobs. After we gave the OK to proceed he put us on the schedule and ordered the court and hoop. We decided on a green, grey and white color scheme (Celtics like colors) and a 72" Goalsetter in-ground hoop. The backboard and pole setup is sturdy as **** and the ball makes a nice thud off the backboard. The job took three days to complete. Day one was setup and prep for the concrete slab. Day two was pouring the slab and installing the hoop. Day three was installing the court tiles and the finishing landscaping. All work was done clean, efficient, and timely. My wife and I are very pleased with the completed project and the kids love the court. Our neighbors and friends are also impressed with the work. We will definitely be hiring Bob again to do a patio and fire pit by the court."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Whitman, MA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
