"Stewards Plumbing provided great service to me at a great price. The owner was very easy to work with and did an excellent job fixing some pipes for me and installing a new hose bib. I highly recommend this company!"

"Steve responded quickly to a request for quote, despite him being on vacation. He followed up with me as soon as he was back with a quote for the work and a timeline for when it could be done. His price was exactly what HomeAdvisor advises it should have been, his service was top notch, he showed up exactly when he said he was going to every day and went right to work. He was always 100% friendly and polite to us, even when asking questions or making suggestions on ways to improve the work I had partially done and gave up on. We will absolutely be hiring ASB Renovations again in the future for more projects and strongly encouraging others to do the same. We felt completely comfortable with ASB being here when we were not, and fully trusted their judgment when making suggestions, and we are glad we did!"

"I woke up to a frozen, burst main line today. With subzero temperatures the past few days, many plumbers in my area have had a full plate. But Mel, his son, and his employee Chris responded and had my line fixed and heat running in my home again within three hours. They asked for a reasonable $500 deposit which is incredibly reasonable considering the main line and shut-off were frozen and leaking, and I was in danger of running out of water for my furnace. Everything was clearly explained to me. I never felt out of the loop. I felt safe with these plumbers in my home, which is always a concern, as I'm a single woman. In a pinch or four extensive home repair, I cannot recommend these men enough!"

"Thursdays I take out the garbage and check on the furnace. I’m a creature of habit. I drain a little water out of the furnace and turn the gauge to add water up to the line. But it will not shut off. I’m WAY over the line. I run to my main and shut my water off there. It’s after hours, so I paged Tom Thomas. They responded quickly, but couldn’t make it out until the morning. So they walked me through a little troubleshooting over the phone. After checking a few things, the responding plumber asked, “is the handle to the shut off parallel or perpendicular to the pipe right now?” I told him it was parallel. A bit of silence, then he calmly and respectfully said, “ok, ma’am, your valve is fully open right now. I’m just going to need you to turn that to perpendicular, then slowly turn your main back on.” I apologized and told him how silly I felt, and thanked him not for laughing (not while he was on the phone with me at least). He said, “I’m happy to save you money and me a trip.” I promised I’d write a resounding review of their professionalism even in the face of my Lucille Ball-level flightiness. This is my first of many. Thanks, guys! I look forward to calling you for an actual issue one day!"

"Dave is polite and respectful of your property, he is punctual and professional. Did quality work and was in and out before we knew it. Would 100% hire again and already have him working on another quote for a furnace service for us."

"<p>M & M was great to work with from start to finish. I recommend them highly. They arrived to survey the job as scheduled within a day or two after I contacted them, and followed up a few days thereafter with a detailed three page estimate that was very competitive with other estimates. I was able to discuss the estimate over the phone in detail with the owner who answered all of my questions directly and completely. Subsequently, M & M completed the job in its entirety on time in one day at the price estimated. M & M conducted themselves in what I consider to be a highly professional manner. </p> <p>A few weeks after the job was completed a relative of mine that was in the heating and plumbing business before his retirement surveyed the completed work. He said that he found nothing amiss and that in his opinion the job was well done and without any corners cut. For instance, he was impressed by the piping design and how the joints were laid out and connected as if by someone that knew his craft well. He said he didn?t see any cheap foreign parts or anything else to detract from the quality of the work, noting that three capped connectors were already in place should I ever decide to hook up other devices such as a gas dryer, gas grill and gas fireplace. </p> <p>I initially contacted M & M in September, and instead of hurrying me along, they recommended waiting on the installation until after more of the valuable oil left in my tanks was drawn down. They then worked with me on the final timing of the installation until mid-December, and that saved me a lot of money. During the intervening time other questions came to my mind and I had the opportunity to speak several times with Carolyn who manages the office side of their business. She always returned my calls promptly or emailed back and addressed all of the issues I raised, and without minimizing any of my concerns. </p> <p>A month or so later, I had M&M back to do a small job on a radiator leak that over the years had been a problem. The owner and an assistant showed up on time and tried several ways to fix the problem without my having to buy a new part needed in the end. All in all, more of the same excellent service that I am expecting now to be able to rely on into the future.</p> <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Wilkes Barre, PA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
