"Stevens Masonry did an excellent job rebuilding the porch from start to finish. The demo, form work, and concrete pour were all handled professionally, and the crew stayed on task throughout the project. Communication was consistent, they arrived when they said they would, and the work area was kept clean during and after the job. The final result matched the scope we discussed and was completed with solid craftsmanship. I would confidently choose them again for future projects!"

"They gave me the information on their process, along with a quote if mold was present. They suggested first step was to remove everything from attic to check for leak and/or mold. Fortunately the problem was solved by removing items from attic which allowed an improved air flow. Very helpful over the phone. Thank you."

"Right from the start everything went like "clockwork". Communications and scheduling were timely and accurate. Marsha kept us informed every step of the way. The estimate for the job was fair and reasonable and we signed on and scheduled the job. Showing up on time, communicating necessary information such as delivery of supplies and job scheduling are important. They followed through perfectly. The job was done in one day, the crew was professional, experienced and very clean. We are delighted with our new patio and we do not hesitate to recommend Exotic Pavers to anyone. So, do yourself a big favor, call them for an estimate...you'll be very glad you did!!"

"Perry and Perry got back to me right away with a reasonable quote. They told me when they could get it done, and did it within that time frame. They also got back to me quickly whenever I had a question. They did a very nice job of fixing my porch so that it really looks like new."

"One screw type pier installed. 2 workers hand dug hole below bottom of foundation. Cleaned out under foundation for platform. Although foundation was deeper than I thought, the hole was done much better and quicker than I envisioned. Pier was screwed at bottom of hole with a hydraulic motor. Once limit on hydraulic pressure was reached, the pier was cut at proper level, platform installed, and cracked section of foundation was raised with a hydraulic jack. Crack in stonework closed up nicely without going too far and creating additional cracks. Workers had 5 and 15 years experience doing this work. Very professional and did a very nice job every step of the way. Note that I (homeowner) chose to move and reinstall landscaping stones and gutter drain. Also, tuckpointing/repairing the cracks was not included in the quote. I plan to do that myself at a later date."

"The demo crew arrived on time and removed the existing driveway. The next day the forms team came out and installed the forms and got them approved. We were rained out the next day but on the fourth day the concrete was poured. On Friday the forms team was back to remove the forms and replace dirt around the new driveway. Very pleased."

"All Palmer staff and subcontractors were unfailingly polite, pleasant, professional, and thorough. They cleaned up after themselves, communicated clearly with me about timeline, problems encountered, etc. They took feedback in stride and were just all around great. I highly recommend them. They'll be painting our house this summer and probably doing a patio project in 2018 for us."

"The team worked the better part of two days to complete the work. They were efficient and hard-working, completing the work in minimal time so we could get back to using our garage without waiting too long. The quality of the work is excellent, leaving our driveway and garage threshold as good as new. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Williamston, MI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
