"Hiring a contractor is always a crapshoot. Youre not just hiring a single person; theres a whole team that comes with them, implementing most of the details, spending days or weeks in your home a strange process at the best of times, and made even more so by Covid. We got a good vibe off Ben when he came to meet us, but it wasnt until work was solidly underway, and at least five different workmen had taken turns basically moving into our basement to put in a new bathroom, that we realized what a good move it had been to choose BRJ Builders. Every member of his team was skilled, professional, efficient, friendly, flexible, and (not least) communicative, all of them totally willing to pause in their work to answer my questions and let me know what to expect. Their responsiveness was all the more important because my husband is chronically ill, ultra-sensitive to dust and noise, and needed to plan his own comings and goings around the work in the house â especially when we decided to expand the job and redo our upstairs bathroom at the same time. And how did all the work turn out? Better than Id even imagined. We are beyond satisfied & is more like it. The work did take a couple of weeks longer than the original estimate but, again, this is Covid time, when deliveries of shower doors were delayed, and the town inspectors werent always available. Even so, the process was smooth and efficient, and I wouldnt have wanted them to compromise on quality just to get it done a day or two faster. Honestly, *every single detail* of the job was beautifully done. AND it came in exactly on budget not even a penny over estimate. Hire Ben and his crew. Youll be happy you did."

"Brian built a addition consisting of a garage with and finished upstairs. I would say that the end result is amazing and Brian has always responded to me when I needed him. We moved into the area and we bought a farm with many challenges over the first few years and Brian and his crew were there for us on every occasion. Brian also install my metal roof and also fixed a chimney that needed a insert due to a past fire. I could go on with the projects Brian has been there for me on but the list seems endless. "John put in a new door leading upstairs--he had to build the frame and install it; it's a perfect fit. He built wonderful custom shelving that is very artfully done--with subtle "notched" connections that make it look very professionally done. John also built us some custom shelving in our garage, and they're so beautiful, we want them to be in our house! I'd use John again in a heartbeat--the man knows how to build things, and he does quickly, efficiently, and beautifully. "BEST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! John Alden, his son and his workers are A M A Z I N G!! We purchased our home six years ago. A really cool Stickley Bungalow, that was built in 1910 - a one story, somewhat 'rambling' (several additions, lots of angles), large home. With a lot of inside work to do, we concentrated our efforts - and our money, on this... leaving the exterior for 'another day'. Well, that day finally arrived and I went hunting on Angies List for a good painter. Instead, I found a GREAT PAINTER!! The exterior of our house was stained brown, actually, many differing shades of brown, as the various areas were no doubt done piecemeal over the years, by the original family who built and owned the home. Along with the solid brown stain, came lots and lots and lots of yellow trim. When I originally contacted John and he came by to check out the job and give me an estimate, I asked him to paint areas that needed it only... so, kind of like 3/4 of the house... sides and trim. As almost half faces away from the street and our side yard, I figured that I'd save some $$ by doing it this way. John gave me a very fair price for this original job, back in August, informing me that I'd be his final exterior customer of the season. He checked back often after this, making sure we were still set for the job and letting me know he planned to begin in late September. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans - sending lots and lots of rain - tough painting weather. John persevered, beginning the job as soon as he could and worked like crazy to get it done! As he was nearing that time, and the portions he had completed looked SO GOOD, he offered to do the whole (John will smile if he reads this), 'kit and kaboodle'... for a very reasonable fee. All I can say is WOW! Our one hundred-eight year old house looks gorgeous... absolutely beautiful! So, to recap: John Alden is a great painter. He goes above and beyond... arriving early, staying late... keeping things tidy... no mess, no drips, just perfect. We are 200% satisfied with John's work, his work ethic and his attention to detail. We wish we'd done this sooner ... but are so happy that I found the BEST PAINTER in Southern Vermont, to do the job up right. To anyone looking for a painter, to do exterior - or interior painting - do yourself a favor and have John take a look. Trust me, you'll be glad that you did! Last - he power-washed the house prior to painting, and included a marble patio and stone steps that are located in the back of our house. Both areas now sparkle! I didn't even know it was possible to get both to look SO GOOD! John did this without being asked to do so, he's just that kind of guy! And, at my request, his son hoisted/set up a pair of storm windows for me, with a smile. Nice people. Really, nice people!"

"Well, the first time the replacement was ordered it was the wrong one, which of course, delayed the installation a week. When it was finally installed I had to pay an additional $850 for code upgrades. This I was not informed of by Home Shield. Then we noticed that there was water on the garage floor and found that the pipe coming in from the wall was leaking at the wall so had to call the plumbing company back out to fix it. They first tried to say it was not their fault but since there wasn't a leak before they installed they did fix it. I have used Home Shield a few times before and never had a problem. Some of the companies they use are not the best so you have to research them before you commit. I have found HS service to be good if you do your homework. At the end of the day I was without hot water for almost 3 weeks but it was do to the plumbing company they sent out."
