Javier and his crew earlier this year repaired a section of our original hardwood floors that were missing after we remove a pony wall in our home’s living room. They refinished the floors in our living room and the repairs were done so well you cannot tell the original floor boards from the repairs. We were so pleased that we used their services again to refinish the floors in 3 bedrooms. Again some boards were severely damaged and needed replacing and again the repairs were seemless and the floors looked fantastic. "Scott and his crew at Olde Tyme Floor Co. are true artisans of flooring. We were restoring a 1954 midcentury modern that had been a rental, so the floors had a lot of wear. The original parquet tiles were in most of the house; the original tiles from the hallway into one bedroom had been removed in the past due to water damage. Olde Tyme Floor Co. started by sanding down the old dark stain to reveal the beautiful original mixed fruitwood. They hand cut and laid new parquet where it was damaged to closely match the original. The pieces were thoughtfully laid out so that there was variation much like the original. The threshold that connects old and new is seamless. The final natural stain is a gorgeous finish that highlights the wood floor and significantly brightens the house. To work with Scott is a dream. Scott was so honest and clear that we hired him to complete our general contractor work for this remodel, replacing a person who finacially inflated jobs while the work was in process. Scott communicates proactively, and is extremely clear. All of the work and estimates were transparent. Scott was onsite nearly every day, and made sure to understand our needs so that the final product was exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend Olde Tyme Floor Co. for flooring that is done right. We decided to accept his bid, selected one of the samples that he provided, and went to his shop to sign the contract. At that time we were told that the wood that we had selected was not in stock, and it would take six weeks to get. He suggested an alternative, that was available immediately. We were disappointed but had a time crunch, took the new sample to our home, and determined that is as an acceptable replacement, (although visibly was inferior quality 25% thinner), than our original selection. The following week, we met with the installers, and proceeded to leave them to work, when the foreman came running after me, and wanted to show me that the wood that they were installing, did not match the sample, that was still in my house. It was clearly a different dye lot. I was very upset and got in touch with Mike Pillar. He insisted that it was the same, even though myself, my husband, and his employee clearly saw a difference. I was thrilled to find out that the original wood that we had selected suddenly was available, however, we were now being charged an extra $680 to get the floor that we were originally quoted on. The explanation that we were given for the price increase was that the stairs cost more with that wood, even though that flooring isn't even on the stairs. The stairs are stained wood. In the end the quality of the work, and the overall pricing was good. I didn't appreciate the bait and switch tactics, the unreasonable price increase, or the way that I was spoken to by the owner.</li> </ul> <br />"

"Beau and his crew installed a new prefinished wood floor in my dining room, entry way, living room and family room. In a few short years, the floor is scratched, dented and floor boards are loose. We have contacted them more times than I can count. Most of the time there is never a call back or when an appointment is set a no show. This is not the way a business should be run. I would think twice about hiring them. I know I am in the minority, but truth is truth. UPDATE: Beau contacted us and his crew came out promptly completing all necessary repairs."

Needless to say when we returned, the floors were significantly damaged, uneven throughout, inconsistent finishe, etc. After the prior company attempted to resand the floors, it was clear that they did not understand how to handle cherry hardwood. I called Carlos as he refinished the floors six years ago. He was super responsive and came by to inspect the floors and provide an estimate to our contractor. Carlos and team were able to nearly restore the floors to the prior finish, doing it quickly, professionally and with little dust. They demonstrated their clear understanding of cherry floors, Bona finish as well as of our needs.
