Customers say: Quality work

"Mr. Do Carmo built a $30,000 paver patio for me less than three years ago. While building it I pointed out that we should add drainage but he assured me that it would not need it. Since I am not a contractor I took his word for it. Over the next two years, I reached out to him multiple times because the stones were sinking. He came by, free of charge, and re-leveled them and even added a drain pipe. After the drain pipe was added, I would go out during rain storms and see if it was working. To my surprise, it was not. After doing some research on my end I realized it was installed incorrectly so nothing was being drained. As of today, the far wall is slowly collpasing and coming apart. The railings are being ripped apart from each other, and the stones are separating. $30,000 for something that lasted less than three years. When I reached out to him, he said he was out of state, and he'll take a look when he has time. When I mentioned that this will be fixed free of charge he said, a"

"Fredy's group has done an excellent job to "water proof" the porch wall. This job was very complicated; they must remove the blue stones on the porch so they could go down to" water proof" the wall from outside first, then they put back the blue stones and sealed the porch with water seal material. After that, they did the water proofing the inside of the wall to assure no more leakage from the porch to the house. It was raining hard for a couple times but the wall is still completely dried, thanks for the wonderful job done by Fredy's contracting, inc. I greatly recommend this company to everybody."

"I needed my garage demolished as soon as possible for insurance purposes. Despite the cold and snow, Jose and his crew showed up and got the project done in less than half a day for a reasonable price. I would definitely recommend them. I will be using their services for future projects."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Yorktown Heights, NY

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
