"Excellent service and results! Doug was very knowledgeable, very easy to talk to, very thorough and detail oriented. He made improvements to my existing system and greatly increased efficiency with immediately noticeable results. He treated my home with respect and left the work area cleaner than when he started. Very happy with the results and highly recommend!"

"Chuck and Noah, are amazing to work with. They communicate extremely well and are honest. They did a home inspection Saturday morning for me. Thankfully I asked them to do a full septic inspection, not just a dye test. They found the septic system, needing major work. To the point, my bank won't approve the loan. the house failed before they even got inside it. When trying to explain to the home own, (who is also the listing agent) what was wrong, and why it needed to be fixed. All this lady did was rudely speaking over him, to the point she was mad at him for finding it. She would ask why it failed and as soon as chuck would begin to explain, she would start yelling over him, how it was fine. She must of ask half a dozen times for him to explain, for her to start arguing as soon as he spoke. I don't know how Chuck was able to be so calm and professional. I would have hit the lady, getting in my face like that. Chuck, was instead calm, kind and professional. "

"My wife and I are first time home buyers, and we are extremely happy we ended up using True View for our inspection. Evan Weiss was our inspector, and he was absolutely fantastic. He was over 20 minutes early and got us started ahead of time. He was unbelievably thorough, and for first time buyers, he made sure we understood every note that he made. He went out of his way to make sure we were good before moving on to other parts of the house. He also had great advice for general things to keep in mind for maintenance and other tips for first time home owners. If you're thinking about using True View, I suggest you pick up the phone and book them today. We're so happy that we did, and in particular, we're so happy Evan was our inspector."

"They are very nasty / rude and not professional on the phone. When we call, it takes almost a week for them to show up. We recently called and scheduled for a date and when they Didn’t show up we called them again and they said no one called to schedule anything and we’re very rude about it. I’ve been a client with them for just over 3 years. The first year was amazing service but the last 2 years is making me look into other options."

"This review is from a seller where an inspection was performed. The heat was not shut off after the inspection and my family and I walked into 90 degree temperatures because the heat was never turned off when the inspection was complete and it was on for 7 hours until we got home. In addition the mud room has a thermostat and electric heater and that was also left on high which we did not realize until the next day. In addition, to prove a point to a potential buyer he forced a hole through the wood in our detached garage reporting that there are signs of water damage. The garage is from 1930, there has been water in the garage especially when we had the hurricane last year but they could have just written that in the report not damage our property to prove a point. Coincidentally, the same inspector came back with another interested buyer and yet another piece of wood was pulled off from the garage. If that is not bad enough, the same inspector gave confidential information from a previous inspection to a new potential buyer which led to another buyer terminating the deal. I know this as our lawyer communicated with the potential buyers attorney and said that the inspector passed on information about a previous inspection he did at our house a week earlier.. in addition, our neighbor and friends were outside during the outside portion of the inspection and they heard the inspector give the potential buyers and their real estate broker information about the last inspection and what the other potential buyers said. So much for confidentiality."

"Do NOT hire Fernando of Northeast Mitigation System to do any work for you. He installed a radon mitigation system at our house a year ago and it took him three attempts to get it under the recommended 4.0 pCi/L. He kept making excuses about why he couldn't get it right, including saying we needed a sump pump. Now, a year later our levels are extremely high again (11.0!) and he is refusing to honor his warranty on the system. We did end up installing a sump pump within that year to avoid flooding issues and he now says that having a sump pump could be causing problems for his system and conveniently doesn't remember telling us that we should get one installed. He is extremely unprofessional and has been nothing but a headache to deal with. I've never had a more frustrating experience with a "professional". Save yourself the trouble and hire CT Basement Systems instead."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Yorktown Heights, NY

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
