"Gilberto and his father were fantastic! We had a drawing of what we wanted our patio to look like and they brought it to life. Their work ethic is top notch and the attention to detail, coupled with their kindness, and thorough work is what sets them apart. an example of that is how they encountered unexpected rain on the day of the final pour. They stayed at our home until 9pm making sure everything was finalized with the concrete pour. They constructed a 40ft x100ft tent so that they could work and protect the concrete during the downpour. their work ethic is fabulous. We will use them again in the spring for our sidewalk and driveway. I would not"

"Pave Hawk was hired to do an addition to an existing cement patio, with a sitting wall, and cap. The patio was stamped concrete and colored. They have accomplished the desired outcome. We did need some flexibility about timing, as they have gotten very busy, during the project. All in all, they have done a great job, The people, especially Leon, were great to work with. Terry, while out of state, still kept in touch to stay on top of the project and keep me informed as needed. Jared was also helpful in the process, and communication was frequent, and dependable. I would recommend them. We are happy with the results!"

"My wife and I thought about doing a rear patio area and looked at several landscaping companies for ideas and bids. We had one company come out for an estimate but it seemed like they were more interested in how much we wanted to spend instead of offering ideas to enhance our backyard. We looked at our neighbor’s backyard that was recently completed by Art of the Earth and were impressed with the quality and design of the job. We decided right then to call them for a design and estimate. Kody and Caitlin came out on a Saturday to review our backyard, discuss what ideas we had, and what we wanted out of the project. They asked for our ideas and Kody provided his recommendations based on our needs and size of the yard. He gave us his thoughts on design and then asked about our budget. He was willing to work with us to make sure we didn’t exceed our budget. The thought of helping us stay within our budget comfort level impressed us. When we received his design, it was a little difficult to visualize on paper how this would look in the end. But by the end of completion, we couldn’t be happier. Kody has a great eye for design and we are throughly impressed on how our backyard came out. Initially, we were only planning on a rear patio area with a few plantings. When it was complete, we ended up with a patio, seating wall, rock bubbler, landscape lighting and several quality plantings. We are happy that we added a “few” extra items that made the yard amazing. Kody and his crew of Kaden, Josh, Elliot and Alex were great. They were always on time and always made sure they cleaned up before leaving for the day. What’s great is that you’ll notice that Kody works side by side with his team. He’s not the type of boss to just stand around and bark orders. He works with his team shoulder to shoulder, providing guidance and teaching them his techniques. So if we were to do this all over again, the decision would be simple, Art of the Earth. Thanks Kody and team!"

"Colima Concrete exceeded my expectations. I received a fair quote for my 30x10 Patio extension and the quality of work was excellent. The crew was prompt and professional. I already have another project lined up with Colima Concrete and highly recommend for anyone in the local area. Glad they were able to fit us in so quickly so we can enjoy the nice weather in our backyard."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Boise, ID

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
