"I've read reviews from other people, and it's interesting how people can have different experiences. I had a 26X65 concrete slab put in, and culvert put in along with some grading done. Kevin came when he said he would and did what he said he would do. I guess my experience overall was one that hit a lot of different angles. The work done was great, but there were some misunderstandings that was of no fault of Kevin's, but I made them his. One of which was no fault of mine, either, but the company led me down the wrong path painting the picture that what Kevin was supposed to do didn't. As I was out of town, I called him up and voiced my displeasure. He responded very professionally and explained the situation to make me understand that he did do what was asked of him. A couple other times, a text went awry and something else that I have since forgotten. But each time he handled himself professionally and had no attitude despite being falsely accused. I'm sorry to hear of other people's situation, but I can only speak for myself and what I experienced. The other thing that impressed me was Kevin was willing to haul his equipment, and did, from a few hours away to regrade an area that this company said they couldn't get across, which was the companies miscommunication. The other thing is response time. There was one time it took a while for him to respond, but living in a rural area, and given that if you're in the middle of a job, I can't expect someone to always be available. One time we even lost connection due to how things are. Just something to keep in mind if you live in an area with ONE bar : /"

"I am happy to write this review of the service I received from David the owner of Pessmag Enterprises, LLC. My project involved the modification of the existing walkway to create a ramp to my home’s front entrance and the addition of an extended area for a patio. David is knowledgeable of his craft and was always professional. He answered all questions regarding my project. He explained in detail how the job would be completed and gave an estimated time for the job completion. A written statement of agreement consisting of the terms of our agreement and the total cost for the final project was provided. David arrived at the property when he said he would be there. He worked tirelessly until each step was done. He returned the next day to clean up the work site and to remove splashes of cement on the front door. He was observant and helpful and even advised me on other future projects that I have been thinking about. My experience with Pessmeg Enterprises has restored my confidence in building construction service providers. After several bad experiences with non-ANGI’s service providers, I am happy to give 5 stars to David Pessmeg for the superior customer service he provides and many thanks to ANGI’s for introducing me to Pessmeg Enterprises, LLC."

"We first thought we had foundation issues when we noticed stair-step cracking along the front (both right and left sides) of our garage brick veneer. After a foundation company did some digging we came to realize the foundation was good, however the original builder had done us a disservice by not laying the brick on a proper cement block/base or using proper brick ties. Isabel came within 2 hours of contacting him to see if he could help our situation. Over time the brick had dropped and separated from the wall itself and was, in time, going to simply fall. He suggested to properly repair all the damage (it was fairly extensive on both sides of the front wall) he would have to demo the entire wall up to the gable and start over with a proper base for the brick. He would dig to see if there were proper footers/a base for the brick to start stacking, possibly pour a proper concrete support, rebuild the wall - matching the existing brick, and repair our concrete walkway that was partially pulled up by the foundation company upon their investigation. We met with Isabel and Revis on Tuesday, the following day a crew showed up first thing in the morning and the job was done by the end of the week. They addressed every concern we had along the way. The crew was even able to save all the existing trim and most materials to save on cost. Overall we are VERY pleased with the quality work that was done as well as how quickly they were able to start/finish the job! And, his bid was FAR less than 2 others we received as well :) <br />"

"In all my searches for "handymen" this was the most wonderful experience I've had with a company so far. My doberman is unable to navigate stairs so I needed a ramp, but I didn't want a flimsy or temporary ramp. I called The Handyman Clarksville LLC on Monday.  Lee came to bid on the job on Tuesday, started the job on Wednesday, and finished on Thursday! Lee gave me exactly what I wanted for a reasonable price and matched the design of my existing deck. There was a bit of fortune in the timing - I called around eight other companies and most of them said they couldn't take on the job for at least a week. Lee happened to have a couple of days open to complete the job quickly, which was important since I've been carrying my doberman down and up the steps multiple times a day. The workers were pleasant and professional and worked in below-freezing temperatures to get the job done. I highly recommend this company and will certainly be calling them first for future jobs."

"I found them on Angie's List. They were very responsive and called me back right away. They were busy and sent someone out within a week or so. He looked at our property, we had some steps that were eroding and we don't need their services at all. He suggested getting a general contractor and rerouting the water away from our house, the drainage. It was good. It was just an estimate, so there wasn't a charge. Since he couldn't see anything that they could do, then there was no charge. He was very helpful and honest. He was very knowledgeable and I felt he knew what he was talking about. I appreciated that he didn't try to do a service that we didn't need. They got very high reviews."

"Excellent!  I could not count the times that they repeated going over my concrete porch until it was really, really clean.  It has not been that clean since it was new.  Really got down into the pores of the concrete and got all of the red clay and dirt left by the winter months.  The hand washing the walls was a surprise.  Didn't know that was going to be included.  Came, emailed me an estimate that I accepted, came did the work on schedule, very hard workers and took their time to make sure it was right.  I appreciated that. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Brownsville, KY

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
