"I needed them to get the job done by the 15th (or it was going to run into other very important things I had going on, so had them scheduled to start the job 4 days before this (in case they needed to rrepalce the roof boards with plywood). Well (because of another job they had) they showed-up on the 14th. This did cause me a headache as the job ran to the 16th. I was at the home doing other work when they started the job and I kept an eye on their work. When stripping the roof (of both the shingles and the wood boards, a lot of this rubble filled-up the brand-new soffet vent boxes I had built -my home did not have soffets/soffet vents or a ridge vent before I started my renovations). After stripping and dropping the chimney, one of the younger workers on the roof started to plywood the roof and I noticed he was installing the plywood over the top of the soffet vent (as they should), but without cleaning all the rubble out of them! This would mean the roof/attic would not vent propery (the air would not be able to go through these vents and up to the ridge vent (thus negating all my work of installing soffet vents and them installing a roof vent). I brought this to the attention of the younger worker on the roof (who's attitude was like, 'oh, ya'); Either he didn't know the importance of making sure the roof vented properly -which is unacceptable for a roofer- or he didn't care. I brought up my shop-vac and stood there while he vacuumed all the rubble out of the portion of the soffet he just covered (I had to go to work eventually and left the crew my shop-vac in the hopes they would vacuum out the rest as they went along -the older guy who ran the crew from the ground completely understood my concern about the rubble in the soffet vent and assured me the rest would be cleaned-out before they put the plywood over it (I do believe this was done because he was not too happy with the younger guy up on the roof for overlooking this -or getting caught overlooking this). The price was good for the work done (about mid-range in the quotes from other companies I had come by and look at the job -all from Angie's List). The job was completed in two days (so once stared, they moved pretty fast), and from what I watched them do: Installing about half the plywood, some of the the ice/water shield, shingles, etc, and the way it looks completed, it appears to be a solid job (and I've had no leaks to this point). And to their credit, they did comply with my on-job request to drop-in the plastic vents that run between the rafters (and connect the soffets to the ridge vent) on one half of the roof before they put the plywood down (this added about 15-20 min to the overall job -I could get these vents in on the other half of the roof myself from the attic). However, the fact that I had to catch the rubble in the soffets and that they didn't show-up when scheduled (and that I'm still chasing them down for a copy of the final invoice), I will not go with them when it's time to do the other side of the roof...or perhaps I will, if I can take the day of from work and 'supervise' the job"

"Dan is an accomplished professional, responsive, easy to talk to and very accommodating to any requests we had. His work is excellent, knowledgeable in all aspects of home maintenance, pays attention to details, and maintains a neat and clean work area. Dan worked both inside and outside our home. We would not hesitate to have him back for any future project. Here's an example of one project Dan completed for usâ ¦ Years of water intrusion had weakened an area near our front door and a chipmunk borrowed through the siding and made a home. After humanely evicting the critter, we were left with a hole in the side of the house and damaged molding on the front door. We contacted Dan and discovered water had damaged all of the lower clapboards in the front of the house, and they needed replacement. In addition, some of the underlying sheathing, base plate, and studs had rotted and needed to be replaced. Further complicating matters, the pilaster molding along one side of the front door was ruined and a replacement was no longer available from the manufacturer. Dan quickly and professionally made all the repairs â including fashioning a new pilaster molding from scratch. To prevent future water intrusion, he was careful to seal and prime where appropriate -- including places only Dan would ever see. After he painted the siding and varnished the front door threshold it all looked better than new."

FAQs for wrought iron fence repair or weld projects in Dover, NH

Wrought iron fence installation costs $1,200 to $4,200 on average. Your final cost depends on several factors, including the length and height of the fence, the intracity of the ornamental design, and the quality of the materials used. Iron fences cost $7,000 or more to install on the high end. Wrought iron fences are more expensive than fences made using other materials.

Wrought iron railings cost an average of $2,600, including labor and materials. Hiring a professional to install iron railings is crucial to ensure accuracy and safety. The price depends on the type of metal used, installation location, aesthetic elements, and whether you’re installing it indoors or outdoors. Materials include plain black iron, galvanized iron, and ornamental iron.

You should never paint over rusted wrought iron fencing. All this does is mask the underlying issue, as rust can slowly deteriorate the integrity of your iron fence, diminishing its durability and stability. Painting over a rusted fence also causes poor paint adhesion, which can lead to flaking. Be sure to remove rust and smooth the surface before painting.
