"Little more money I thought but before they continued it was discussed. Tackled the new part of the house which hadn't been cleaned in 2 yrs. Cat hair, that's why price went up, kitchen looked amazing. We will work on the old part of the house next time. Very nice ladies, worked almost 5 hours without a break however I would of liked them to. Look for comments after the next clean."

"NIsha did a good job cleaning and it was rare that I had to make corrections; however, there were several times where my payments were misapplied or confused with one time receiving a threat to quit after my payment had actually been received. I had been charged several times for a ;cleaning; that we were actually at our condo and did a deep cleaning and I had to provide camera pictures that her crew in fact did not clean and were only in my condo for less than 5 minutes. Whoever does her billing does not send it every month and I just came to terms that I needed to calculate the charges myself and mail a check with the dates on the check that it was covering. Out of the blue, I receive a generic email telling me that they would no longer clean our condo. Because there was not an explanation, I inquired why this decision was made and did not receive a response. I hope that it is not due to bad health or tragedy but would have appreciated a professional response."

"We hate to post such a negative review but were assured by Angie’s List that they will show us how to change the review once work is completed. In April, we gave Dave a $700 deposit with the understanding that we had a large family gathering planned for the week of July 12th but he held off for almost 3 months. In the midst of our own flurry of preparations a small army of people came to start the work July 13th. Dave returned the 2nd day (July 14th) for a short time then left. We were surprised to learn he wasn’t coming back that day but even then we were not overly concerned because he had reassured us about this very thing from the beginning. Before signing on we nervously told Dave how hard it is to trust someone else to do the work and told him we had never hired a painter in our lives. Everyone knows the stories. He smiled and said very calmly “don’t worry, we won’t leave until everything is just the way you want it.” When he did not return the 3rd day (July 15th) we were too overwhelmed with work ourselves to question it and still felt confident in his promise. So, for the next few days we entertained family and tried to carry on with life under the assumption that Dave would come back as soon as he could. Everything changed, however, when he sent us a text on July 21st reminding us we had not posted a review on Angie’s List. It was at this moment the worry began. Before signing on, we spoke with Dave about old siding repairs. We had just bought the house and there were many large woodpecker holes that were obvious because the filler the previous owner had used was too light. The material was really hard--how would stain look over them? One contractor strongly suggested painting the cedar lap siding but another one said he could make it look good. Dave said the same thing but—while we were still considering lower bids-- he went a step further and reassured us that he would not leave them looking that way and, if necessary, he could use some kind of marker to darken the old repairs. This reassurance made all the difference to us. Maybe Dave forgot to relay this information to his employees. All we know is those old repairs are still as unsightly now as the day we bought the house. Though we are limited to only 10, the photos we have sent to Angie’s List are the worst examples of lapping, spilling, overspray, poor taping, and unfinished work. Though we see most of the problems in these photos as oversights we are understandably discouraged. As of this writing a month has gone by since we last saw Dave and, in spite of our requests, he has not returned to inspect the work done in his absence. Photo 1: See unfinished wood at the bottom of door frame sandwiched here between heavy overspray on metal sill plate and heavy overspray on decking. The deck was not a part of this job but you can see overspray closest to door contrasted with decking in foreground. We could be wrong, but believe this would’ve been a simple matter of clean up while still wet but, left unchecked, it became a logistical nightmare for us. The area seemed covered up fairly well while they worked but when the tarp was taken off it soon became apparent that there was a problem. For several days after they left we had an ongoing problem with sticky red footprints on our white tile. We threw down cardboard and tried to discourage a crowd of people from coming through the front door but there was no way to keep the sill plate covered and it proved an impossible task with over 20 people coming and going for the next several days. Photo 2: One of the worst examples of uneven/poor taping Photo 3: On the upper left you will see an unstained fascia with an unfilled hole and though soffit looks fully stained you can see a yellowish strip on the underside which is one of many old repairs (as mentioned above) that we discussed at length with Dave when he came to make a bid. Photo 4: Side garage door detailing uneven staining and stained spider web Photo 5: Same side garage door showing uneven staining as well as unstained wood frame on bottom, unfinished paint and spills Photo 6: Front of newly built workshop showing overlap above door (as well as several overlap marks on door frame), unfinished door trim and unpainted grills. Unpainted grills are an issue elsewhere as one of our entry door grills was not finished and where three colors of paint (including our new green) still sit on parts of the glass. The grills on the house garage door are painted beautifully and, if not limited on photos, we would have gladly shown the detail here as it was perfection. Photo 7: Worst example of overlap is on north side of workshop Photo 8: This stain spill is representative of numerous spills on our new landscaping rock and of a heavy spill on our front lawn which has left the soil saturated and dead grass measuring over 4 foot in circumference. Photo 9: Close up of workshop siding where you can see sag/drip lines left on wood Photo 10: This is an example of a dry spot. Some of the dry areas are in larger patches which are hard to photograph but this one is representative of numerous areas where the spray may have been blocked or shifted by wind as, in every instance, the dry spots are surrounded by beautiful deep staining. Another shock associated with this job was material costs. When we decided to go with him he told us “expect to pay for 10 gallons, 12 at most” and gave us an estimate of $350.00 for materials. We mistakenly thought he would pay for materials out of our $700 deposit which he had cashed almost three months before but at the last minute he asked us to pay for it at delivery. As it turned out, his supplier delivered 20 gallons of stain and presented us with a bill for $650.00. This was double his original estimate and something we were entirely unprepared to pay. We were able to return the unused caulk but in the end we are now left holding a 5 gallon bucket full of stain. We were disappointed to have to clean up drink bottles and trash but he would never have heard about it if his workers had not gone off and left open chemical buckets in our yard. As we frantically made last minute preparation we mistakenly knocked one over—thank goodness it was between outbuildings—but these chemicals should never have been left out. As with the large area of dead grass they left behind, we fear nothing will grow there again. We were disappointed when some of our rock borders were knocked out of place but they would never have heard about it if workers had not dripped stain on them and made no effort to clean up. We were disappointed to have doors pushed wide open while being painted (Dave told us the door openings would be covered with plastic) but he would never have heard about it had we not been left with a high electric bill and fighting flies during food prep for a large dinner. In the end it all seems so unfair and, we believe, beneath the reputation Dave and his family have sought to build up all these years. We paid them in full and, though our trust and optimism have not yet been rewarded, all we ask is that they do the right thing without any further prompting. We hope we can end this experience with a home that is finished and a positive review."

FAQs for post construction clean up projects in Hollister, MO

Plan on one hour of cleaning for every 100 to 200 square feet. That means a two-to-four-person crew will spend eight to 12 hours on a full-size home.

Your pro will walk the space first, size it up, and give you a more precise timeline to be sure every lofty ceiling, baseboard, and tight corner gets the same white-glove attention.

Cleaning fine dust after construction requires a combined approach of detailed dusting and high‐powered vacuuming. Begin by wiping high surfaces such as ceiling fans, walls, window sills, and countertops to eliminate deposited particles. Next, vacuum all floors, carpets, and hard surfaces and mop afterward to remove residual dust. Finally, clean HVAC returns, supply vents, and replace filters to ensure a completely dust‐free environment.

You’ll need safety gear and heavy-duty tools. At minimum, you should wear a respirator, eye protection, and work gloves. Then, bring in a HEPA-filter shop vac, wet mops, microfiber cloths, and a carpet shampooer to lift dust from every surface.

Pros also keep extra filters and trash bags on hand so they can swap them out mid-job and keep the cleanup running smoothly from start to finish.

Book your post-construction cleanup for one to two days after the last tool leaves the site. That 24- to 48-hour buffer lets dust settle so the crew can snag every speck in one visit.

Touch base with your contractor before you lock in a date; if their punch-list slips, you’ll want to shift the cleaning slot to avoid costly rescheduling and make sure the house is truly move-in ready.
