"I recently hired EA Masonry to install a shed base and expand my concrete patio, and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. Their pricing was very competitive, but what really stood out was how incredibly friendly and welcoming they were from the very beginning, I felt comfortable with them right away. The quality of their work was phenomenal. They were professional, detail-oriented, and clearly take great pride in what they do. It’s rare to find a team that combines skill, reliability, and such genuine kindness. I highly recommend them to anyone looking to hire for a project. In fact, I already have another project for the Spring that they will be returning for!"

"These guys are competent, reasonable and helpful. The final cost is as quoted, their staff are careful to keep work areas neat, and the work is of high quality. Cant ask for a lot more from a contractor. "

"Roberto and his crew did an outstanding job! We usually do all of our hedge abs shrub trimming ourselves, but with a few other projects going on we hadn’t gotten them all season long and they were seriously overgrown. Since we COULD do it ourselves, we had a limit on what we were willing to pay, so we were getting several quotes … most of which were higher than we had hoped. Roberto worked with us on the pricing, which was good news because now it was off of our plate! His crew was there the early next day … fast, friendly, courteous, conscientious and neat! We are now looking to have Roberto and his crew back to take a few more projects off of our plate too! If you want a great job, at great price, by a great crew … we highly recommend Roberto’s Affordable Lands aping!"

"I hired Eligio & Sons Masonry and Landscaping to build a retaining wall in my yard, and overall I?m really happy with how it turned out. The area had been sloping and starting to wash out, so we needed something solid to hold everything back. Eligio came out to take a look, explained a few options, and gave a fair estimate. The crew showed up when they said they would and got the job done in a reasonable amount of time. They worked hard and you could tell they knew what they were doing. The wall came out straight, solid, and looks a lot better than what was there before. They also cleaned up the area pretty well once the job was finished. Like any project there were a couple small details we talked through along the way, but Eligio was easy to communicate with and made sure things were done right. The finished retaining wall looks great and should hold up for a long time. I?d recommend Eligio & Sons if you?re looking for someone to do masonry or retaining wall work. "

"We recently had our entire brick building tuckpointed in Brookline and the results were outstanding. The crew was professional, clean, and extremely detail-oriented from start to finish. They matched the mortar perfectly and made the whole building look brand new again. They showed up on time every day, kept the site organized, and finished the project exactly when promised. If you need full building tuckpointing done right, I highly recommend this company. Top quality workmanship and very fair pricing."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Lowell, MA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
