"Our project went very well. The Frey estimator, Tyler, was very helpful in explaining our options and answering our general questions about roofing and gutters. From the attic, he inspected the underside of the roof plywood and showed us the deterioration in the 3/8th" plywood that was 43 years old. Pictures of our house taken with Tyler's phone were sent from his vehicle to a computer program that generated the size of our roof and the amount of materials needed. Tyler also generated his preliminary Estimate, showing the costs of various roofing and gutter options, from his vehicle. He showed us that Frey had insurance that covers all of its workers and he went over the GAF company warranty for materials and labor. The Frey roofers have all attended training for installing GAF materials. Tyler said that Frey would plan to provide a big enough crew to replace both the plywood and shingles in a single day and that the gutter project would be done by a different Frey crew shortly afterwards. We went to the GAF website and it had addresses of houses in our area with the GAF shingle colors that we were thinking about. We drove by some of those houses to see how the materials looked installed. We contacted Tyler and said that we would like to finalize the materials and proceed with the project. He came over and brought samples of the shingles and other materials. We chose the GAF Timberline HD Lifetime shingles, 5" gutters with 3x4 downspouts and Big Mouth Outlets and replacement of all the underlying plywood with 1/2" OSB sheeting. Included was 6' of GAF Ice & Water protection, and 3' of valley protection, GAF Premium Breathable Deck Armor on all other areas of the roof, and GAF Snow Country ridge vent, 20" of valley tin in all valleys and drip edge with GAF Starter along all eaves and rakes.. Tyler finalized our Estimate via the computer link in his vehicle and answered our project questions and we gave him a one-third down payment to lock in the project. About a week later, we got a mailing from Frey Construction laying out what we should do in preparation for our project...such as taking down pictures and shelves with collectibles. We also got the city building permit in the mail from Frey and a copy of the permit fee invoice. Nick, the crew leader, arrived the morning of our project. We walked around the house and he reviewed what was going to be done...including removal of the chimney. Nick answered a few more questions that we had. Nick took my cell number in case any issues came up during the day as I did not plan to stay at the house all day. No additional issues did come up. The roofing crew arrived around 9:00 and immediately got going. There were six roofers plus Nick plus a little help during the day from one other Frey worker. My neighbors told me they did not think that all the plywood could be replaced plus the shingles in just a single day. By 6 pm the roof was done and clean-up was well underway. We are very pleased with the color and texture of the shingles and the overall new look. The next morning the Frey Construction gutter bus pulled up and we walked around the house with the Frey lead worker to review the gutter project. The gutters & downspouts were installed by a crew of three so it did not take very long. Everything went as planned and the end result looks great. After the project was completed, Frey Construction sent a letter detailing how our GAF warranty can be transferred one time to a subsequent owner. This was a good reminder to find a reliable place to store the warranty information and transfer right. We wanted a contractor that had high quality workmanship plus used high quality materials so that this will likely be our last roofing project. We were very pleased with the final product and Frey Construction's project management was very good. It was very convenient that both the plywood and the shingles could be replaced in one-day. All of the Frey people were very personable and helpful. We would pick Frey Construction again."

"He was very honest and upfront and said may be 6-8 weeks before could do the roof when awarded work as was very busy. After calling on 10/2 to get update on when might do he ended up being able to do it yesterday or less than 4 weeks. I was very impressed they did job for price and in one day with full tear off finding no nails or anything left laying on ground. He is very honest person with hard working crew and was less expensive than anyone else. I could tell right away he was honest person which is so very important when getting work done on your home. The overall quality of his work is very....very..... good for a very fair price. You might find another roofing company that may get graded excellent on overall quality but you will also be paying three to five thousand dollars more for this same job."

"We did not use Exterior Pros' services, but wanted to alert interested persons of our estimating experience. Peter, representing Exterior Pros, came by in response to our request for a proposal to re-roof our house and replace the fascia and soffit. Peter was very knowledgeable, personable, and emphasized his company is dedicated to doing things right; uses premium products; is honest; and provides quality to ensure their work lasts. He was very patient with answering our questions, and thoroughly inspected our attic and roof. He showed great care to protecting our house from his ladder while inside, and took action not to spread insulation through the house. He wanted to make sure we understood all facets of the job. All of these elements gave us great confidence in this company. However, the visit lasted five hours, and, although Peter went up on the roof, and measured things, I believe twice, he came up with a measure of squares 25% higher than three previous quotes from other contractors. The three previous quotes contained essentially equal measures of roofing squares. We questioned how Peter came up with so many squares, and he said he used a program. We were confused as to why he did not use manual measurements, since he went up on the roof and had a long tape measure. He said he took tape measurements from the ground to verify his initial program generated result. He said the other roofers used the wrong multiplier. After 4 1/2 hours, Peter gave us a quote based on the number of squares he came up with using what he said was the right multiplier, and, then, provided us a quote with the multiplier he said the other roofers used. His higher quote was almost triple, and his lower quote was almost double the average of the previous three quotes. Peter, then, offered us a price with a 15% discount on the lower quote. When we asked how much of the quote was roughly labor, materials, and the price for the extended warranty, Peter said he did not know. He said the pricing is based on the number of squares, and everything is bundled together. This pricing structure does not give us the option of eliminating the fascia and soffit job, or opting out of the warranty; or doing other things to bring a job within budget. Another thing that peaked our suspicions was Peter's mentioning they would have to replace four large areas of decking. One of the other contractors who looked in the attic said there were no signs of rot or other issues from below, but all roofers have a contingency for adding extra wood if required. However, they all contend that you have to remove the shingles to see the condition of the wood under them. We were not impressed that Peter was recommending replacing decking before the job even started. We were very disappointed to lose faith in this company's integrity. We felt the bundled pricing structure was suspect and not conducive to normal business practices in the home improvement industry."
