"We are new homeowners and had a hole in our septic tank made of concrete block, which was sending wastewater into the foundation/basement of the home. It was my first time using Angie's List, and I would recommend Illinois Sewer and Drain to anyone. Joe and his team of experts solved our issue immediately at an affordable price. They even went above and beyond to install a sump pump in our basement to help with the rain water. Quality work!!"

"Installed a sump pump in our crawling space. They were really great to work with, responded very quickly, were able to assess the project accurately and give us a very competitive quote. Was very efficient and completed the project in half a day. They were friendly and happy to answer all of our questions as well as give us a range of options. Would definitely hire again."

"Patrick was promptly in figuring out what our issue was. He was able to rod the line and get the water to start draining out. Explained why the line clogged and what to do to help it from happening again. He will be my go to plumber"

"Charlie and Junior were awesome.  I could not have been more pleased with the work they did and their responsiveness.  Without a doubt, I would call Charlie again for any sort of plumbing, sewer or gas issue.
We had a gas leak under the range that was detected on a routine Peoples Gas inside safety check.  Because the valve/hose were inside the house, instead of near the meter, the Peoples Gas guy turned off the gas to one of our meters around 1:30 in the afternoon until we could have it repaired.  This left us without hot water, furnace and stove (or so we thought) for the basement and 1st floor.
I called Charlie around 2:30 that day, he was on site by 5:15.   Since we have 2 gas meters, Charlie was smart to check everything, because it turned out that the Peoples Gas guy actually didn't turn off the meter that supplied the range.  (Our house is over 100 yrs old - originally a 3 flat that has since been renovated a nunber of times prior to our ownership.)  I had bought the parts at Home Depot, and Charlie replaced the valve and connector hose.  He also checked our 2nd furnace and fireplace and labeled my meters for me.  Our leak was repaired quickly, neatly and Charlie and Junior walked out of here in by 6:15.
Called Peoples Gas, and they were back here at 10:30pm same night to turn the gas back on.  It's good to have heat and hot water again.  Especially in November.  Thanks, Charlie!

FAQs for sump pump or interior foundation drains installation projects in Orland Park, IL

Most residential pumps draw approximately 1,300 to 2,900 watts when they first start, then settle at roughly 800 to 1,050 watts during normal operation. The exact number depends on the motor’s horsepower and how often the float switch tells the pump to run. Even at the high end, the electricity cost is minor compared with the expense of cleaning up a flooded basement.

Grab a ruler and an empty 18‑inch‑wide pit. During a steady rain, time how much the water rises in one minute. Multiply that depth (in inches) by 60 to calculate gallons per hour, then add 50% for safety. If the result tops 2,100 gallons per hour—about 35 gallons a minute—you’ll need a 3/4‑horsepower unit. Anything lower, and a 1/3- or 1/2-horsepower pump should do the trick.

Loud rattling, constant cycling, or shuddering vibrations are the pump’s way of telling you it’s on its last legs. Musty smells, higher electric bills, and visible rust are other red flags. If the unit is 10 years old or older and exhibits any of these symptoms, replace it before the next heavy rain turns your basement into a wading pool.

You don’t have to hire a licensed plumber, but you should still bring in someone who installs sump pumps for a living—whether that’s a plumber, basement‑waterproofing specialist, or experienced handyman. They know the local codes, can wire the pump safely, and will test the system before they leave. Skipping professional help might void the warranty and could leave you with a pump that fails when you need it most.

Not every basement needs a pump, but if your home sits in a floodplain, has a high water table, or has ever taken on water during a storm, a sump pump is inexpensive insurance. For basements that only struggle with condensation or the occasional damp spot, sealing cracks and improving drainage may be all that is needed.
