"I met and dealt with Richard while I was having my bardominium built in 2023. The concrete he pored for the 64x40 was perfect. He helped me out in many other ways on his own time on the weekends. I am happy that he has acquired the honest family business his dad worked so hard to make successful, and that Richard has been a part of since a very young age."

"AJC Home Services was here this morning about 8:30 to cut down 12 very tall Evergreen trees. I watched them do this and it was very interesting to see the whole process. The 2 gentlemen were professional, hard working and thorough. They had them all cut down along with the clean-up in under 90 minutes. The stump grinding crew are on their way, as I write this to complete the job."

"I called 5 different companies in the area who indicated in their ads that they do asphalt driveways but I only heard back from George George and one other company. I was a little concerned with George George's bid because he just "eyeballed" the job without ever measuring anything. He also just verbally gave me his estimate without writing anything down. I called him a couple of days later telling him I would accept his bid and he came by the next day (Saturday) and gave me a written estimate (which was exactly what he had told me verbally). They were very quick, they started the job the following Wednesday and completed it by noon Thursday. My only minor complaint was that he had told me on Saturday that they would call me the evening before they came but they didn't call, so both of my cars were in the garage when they showed up and started to work on Wednesday."

"I have been having huge heating bills and during investigations discovered a hole in the wall in the crawlspace that the original insulation contractor had covered with cardboard and spray foamed. End result - massive air leak under the cardboard. I called Kaufman & Sons and Cliff came out within a few days. He gave me a range of solutions and I chose to "make it right" ... it was a horrible job, pouring two new footings and building two block walls... tying them into existing wall... all in a crawl space with 2 ft of ceiling height. He gave me a "best case and worse case quote" (depending on how the job unfolded) and I asked him to go ahead. I have been studying building and construction work for many years and I can tell true experts quickly with just a few questions. Cliff was clearly an expert. <br /> He was able to schedule me sooner than originally expected and arrived punctually. The work was performed to a VERY high standard and the cleanup was excellent... absolutely zero mess (in partially finished basement [where he had to mix concrete]). He told me it went better than expected and billed me BELOW the lowest quote he gave me.  <br /> Airleaks solved. Job done properly... Fair billing. Excellent communication and professional standards. <br /> Highly recommended. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Peoria, IL

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
