"I posted the desired work on Thumbtack, and received a response from North Central within a day. I appreciated that they gave an estimate of the cost in the response. I contacted them and was pleased with their response, and that they were available to do the work within a week. The owner, a master plumber and his son showed up at the scheduled time, had several suggestions, and completed the work quickly. I recommend they be contacted for any plumbing needs."

"First of all, Troy is EXTREMELY reliable to communicate with! So many times I contact someone to do work and never hear back. I always heard back from Troy. Every. Time. And while I didn't use him for my countertops (I wanted something very specific only one place carried), I did come back to him when I was ready for the tile to be installed on my backsplash. Even though it was a small job I was treated as well as if it were a big one. The tiler did great work and cleaned up everything afterwards. If you are looking for kitchen remodeling, I highly recommend Hansen's Custom Countertop Services!"

"Nate is the best! We had a copper pipe leak, and Nate was able to be here within a couple of hours. He relaxed the copper section and installed a shut-off valve. I bought a custom-ordered Koehler toilet from Home Depot (never again. I then scheduled Nate to install. Short story: the toilet bowl was broken, and it would take Home Depot weeks to get get a new one. Nate called Ferguson in Plymouth — they had the same model. Nate picked it up and we had a new toilet in :45 minutes!"

"The next day, I noticed a leak at the T at the shut off valve for our bidet seat. I called him and he said "yeah, I noticed that, too". I asked him to come back to fix it. He came back (no extra charge) and he tightened the best he could but it still leaks. He said I would need to order a new T-joint from the bidet maker and he could install it for an extra fee."

"Jeff, the owner of Johnston Sales and Service came out to give us a quote. He was detail oriented, spent good time looking at the logistics of a retrofit trying to figure out the best design for the pipes to run. Finally he decided the best spot was in the upstairs laundry room and put the motor and canister unit in the garage. He is an authorized dealer for Canavac central vacuum. His quote was comparable and/or even lower than other bids we got and it included a ready-to-go rough-in for the basement for future use. He also spent good time answering all our questions to our satisfaction. My wife and I visited his store/showroom in Richfield to see the products he was talking about. Even in the store he was in no hurry and gave us a demo of the product, explained how it works and other accessories. As this was a Canavac DOC-IT system in an existing house, he put in the drywall and the electrical cost in his estimate. These were by subcontractors. <br /> On the day of install it was him and his wife, Kathy. Both are very hard working and very professional people. They had some issues getting the pipe through the laundry room wall into the garage attic and then into the garage. But Jeff used his flexible camera to see behind the wall and solved the issue. The installation went very well. They wore shoe covers and cleaned up thoroughly after the work. Both of them put the customers first. Very friendly people and made us comfortable and stress-free even though it was a major renovation with drywall and electrical work. After the work was done Jeff gave us a demo of how it works and again answered our questions patiently. Even the subcontractors (drywall and electrical) were very good and nice people. Jeff has a good team to work with. <br /> One thing deserves a special mention. During installation of the tube above the door, Jeff accidentally chipped a small piece of the door trim. He went out of his way to get his repaired. Jeff contacted our builder to place an order for new door trim with matching color. It took couple of weeks for the mill to get it ready. He then drove to their warehouse in Hugo, picked up the door trim and installed it himself. We were very impressed with his commitment. Couple of things that showed he valued customer service and satisfaction above and beyond everything - threw in a car garage kit and few accessories at no extra cost, insulated the tubing that ran in the garage to the canister. <br /> Overall we highly recommend this company for any vacuum cleaner needs. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Princeton, MN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
