"This project expanded greatly from the original quote. Levi worked with us and all extra projects were very fairly quoted. There have been delays and there is still a finish job to be completed. The delays really have not been the fault of the contractor. I would hire him again."

"This was a three day job. Day 1 - they edged the grass back from the driveway, power washed all surfaces to be coated, and caulked hairline cracks in the driveway. The surface of the driveway had deteriorated over 20 years to a rough, porous surface condition that was impossible to keep clean. Fortunately, there were no serious cracks in the concrete. Day 2 - they applied narrow tape over the caulked cracks and along the edge of the driveway and walkway to define the borders. They then applied the polymeric base coat by hand troweling the material in a rather uneven fashion to provide a textured surface. As they applied the base, they removed the tape and used a broom stick to scribe the other grout lines and form the flagstone pattern. This displayed a good bit of artistry, and only took about 2 hours in the morning. In the afternoon, they returned and ran a sander over the surface to reduce the roughness and give the final texture that was desired. Again, a good bit of artistry required. Once sanded, they blew the dust and loose particles off and they applied the colored grout to all the grout lines. One person applied the grout from a small plastic bottle with a nozzle cap, while another followed behind to spread and smooth the grout. That was all allowed to dry overnight. Day 3 - they returned in the morning to sponge paint the color to the surface. This was done by hand with large sponges dipped in a thin solution or coloring material. The color was applied first to the borders, then to the entire surface with various shades obtained by how much was applied. The borders received two coats to provide a deeper shade, while the flagstone area was shaded from light to medium. Again, a good bit of artistry involved. The color was allowed to dry for a few hours, and the crew returned in the afternoon to apply two coats of sealer, the second coat including an anti-slip compound. This finished the job. <br /> Instructions were not to walk on the surface for 24 hours, and not drive on it for 1 week. The surface is shiny but not slippery. Rain water beads up on the surface like on a newly waxed car. We are very pleased with the result, and have had many compliments from friends and neighbors. <br /> Nov. 2013 update. We had our three car garage floor coated with no design similar to the front stoop. It has now been ten months and everything still looks like new. The surface is easy to clean and is a big improvement over the bare concrete we started with. One downside to be noted: As mentioned above, water beads on the surface so that even a heavy dew results in a wet driveway, and freezing temperatures can produce an invisible sheet of ice that is very treacherous to walk on. Driving over the ice has not been a problem. Bare concrete tends to absorb small amounts of moisture and not have this problem. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"After reviewing our situation CFS recommended we contact a brick mason to rebuild the support columns.  His conclusion was that it would not be a good investment to utilize their services for the repair I needed.  He also surveyed our fireplace and attached porch and noted potential areas to keep and eye on. <br /> No pressure at all to contract for services, he was very knowledgeable and professional.  He provided good background information for us to understand what had caused the problems (ground settling) and how to monitor for future changes. <br /> While we did not contract with CFS I would not hesitate to recommend them or use them in the future. <br />"

"The American Patio people were great to work with.  I was called if there was going to be even a minor delay in their arrival to do the estimate and the actual repair work.  The men who did the work were polite and professional.  Ginger, who came to do the estimate, was very knowledgable and did not try to talk me into doing any more to the driveway than I initially requested."

"I think he is the best around and I dare anybody to find anybody better.  It was an excellent job. The full cost was $9500. It was a very good price. The impressive part of this is, the guy that runs the business is very strong on putting concrete in and using the correct ratios of water to concrete mix and going by the stated concrete requirements. He is working with the state government to get requirements for pads when you build a  house. Apparently there is no regulation that governs concrete which is crazy because a house is built on a concrete. There is a  house close to us, apparently there is a lot of problems there with the inner walls that are cracking and sagging because the concrete based underneath  is breaking up and going to powder and it is not supporting the house. He did a very good job of putting the concrete in. I had a sketch for him on how I wanted for him to design it and he did exactly what I wanted. In fact I was going to replace the driveway, I thought it probably needed it because our house was built in '72, he looked at it and suggested that I power wash it and put this sealer on which is good for about 3 years.  It did a good job for 3 years, no mold. That is why I called him back a month ago to reseal all the concrete again."

"I contacted Eric and Pavescaper in the beginning of July 2013 for a quote regarding patio work in my backyard.  Karen who works in the office returned my call timely and set up an appointment for Eric to come out.  Eric came out on the scheduled date and not only provided a quote for the patio work but provided ideas on the layout of the patio. <br /> After comparing other quotes received for the work and the reviews of the companies I decided to go with Pavescaper.  Not only were they the most affordable option, their reviews and pictures of jobs completed were stellar.  When I called to book the job - an appointment was set up and Eric came out again to go over everything and ensure the contract proposal was completely accurate. <br /> Eric was very upfront that business was busy and told me our job would be scheduled for October 2013.  This was not a problem as all the other contractors who provided quotes also said they were very busy and would not be able to complete the job until the fall. <br /> As October approached, Eric reached out and contacted me that within a week or so it would be time to begin our job.  He inquired as to whether we had researched EP Henry stones to determine what our preference was.  Eric recommended a few EP Henry distributors that are local where we could go and see the stone and pavers set up in person. <br /> On the date work was scheduled to begin, Eric and his crew came out and they demolished my old concrete patio.  Over the next few days they demolished the concrete steps, excavated the grass area next to the old patio, dug trenches and ran the downspouts underground, installed the stone base, rebuilt the steps, and installed the pavers.  Pavescaper then put grass seed down around the patio to ensure the grass boarder grows back quickly. <br /> My wife and I couldn't be happier with the job that Eric and Pavescaper did.  The steps and patio are beyond our expectations.  Eric kept us in the loop regarding what steps of the project were happening when.  His crew worked hard and did a great job.  I would recommend Pavescaper to anyone, and would use them in the future for any other similar work. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Rocky Point, NC

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
