"We had a REALLY large job! (Live in an old house & have to get rid of all of the knob & tube wiring) It took a while & they were in our house for many days. They were ALL AMAZING! They were always SUPER respectful, kind, professional, clean, polite, careful, etc!!! He was right on with the estimate (on both the dollar amt and the time frame). They went above & beyond our expectations! & they were great!!"

"We were very happy with the service we received from Cardinal in wiring a new ceiling fan and repairing some outlets and switches in our home. The electrician came on a Sunday evening and was was extremely professional, he discussed everything he was going to do and our options for meeting our goals and he was a creative problem solver as our old house posed some unique issues. In addition, he was quick and very pleasant, he cleaned up any debris generated during the call and worked very hard to make us happy. I was really happy with everything about the visit and will choose Cardinal the next time we have a problem."

"When I called, because we were looking into a new furnace and air conditioner, Cardinal sent Rick out to check things out in our basement and outside. My husband wasn't here the first trip out so Rick came back to explain what our options were to both my husband and myself. He explained what qualified for tax credits and rebates and then any add ons for heating and cooling. He explained what a heat pump was and how it worked. Then he shared his experience with the product. It was so nice, he came over on a holiday weekend, never pressured us, or was impatient, just a down to earth guy who really wanted to give us the most information to make sure Cardinal would meet all of our needs. They definitely did. Two days later their installation crew arrived bright and early and were done by early afternoon. The house felt different immediately with the in home humidifier and April aire system installed. What a difference! Thank you Cardinal for that wonderful two fur deal!"

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Stoughton, WI

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
