"Frank does good work and is honest. It is just him doing the work and taking calls and not a fleet of plumbers behind a front desk. He is a master plumber and his prices reflect that experience. He is responsive and gave me a quote before doing the work. I have also since contacted him about additional plumbing related questions and he was able to help guide me toward contacting the county about my sanitary sewer test records. He was under no obligation to help me, but he did so anyway. Unfortunately the work that I need done may require snaking a camera which is equipment that Frank does not have."

"We contacted several contractors to start on roughing in new lines in our home. Gary Bricker was really friendly over the phone. Not that phony baloney wheeler-dealer friendly, but genuine friendly. He arrived on time and conducted a thorough walk through, answering all my lay person questions and giving great practical advice. His employees were friendly and professional, and cleaned up after they were done. Due to budget constraints we are having all the work done in phases. We appreciated that Gary Bricker was OK with this, as not every plumber seemed open to working this way. We will definitely be hiring Brickhaas Plumbing in the future for the next phase of our renovation. Thank you to everyone for your fantastic services! -Peter and Stephanie Erickson"

"Bob was great. He wasn't supposed to work today as he had family obligations previously arranged. He took care of my plumbing needs + his obligations. I was frantic because I didn't know what was happening and why. Water was running out of tub spout but it was turned off. Lots of wasted hot water. Thank you Bob for taking pity on me and helping me out."

"We had a significant gas leak in mid December and the gas company put in a temporary line that had to be permanently fixed in 10 days. I got multiple estimates, including from Mark Blackburn. Mark was professional, stated this is all they do and are very good at it and gave me an estimate over the phone. He stated the cost and what was included, which made sense to me. All other estimates I received were higher and the companies did not instill the confidence I felt from Mark. I selected Blackburn and was extremely pleased with all aspects. They scheduled a timely replacement, were able to use the existing gas line and not dig up my entire lawn, and were true to the cost (no unexpected costs or nickel and diming). The quality and service was excellent. Thanks Mark."

"Excellent. Dave was highly recommended and I also would highly recommend Dave Campbell plumbing and heating. I was contacted promptly, estimate provided with recommended work to fix the excessive water problems from running down hill behind the house. The water was also entering the septic system and needed replacement of existing leach field. Dave also recommended to install a sump pump in the basement to ensure the basement remains dry. Dave was able to start the project the next week and completed the project timely. He was very professional and performed a quality job that exceeded my expectations at a extremely reasonable price. The backyard is now dry and draining properly, the sump pump is running alot during this rainy spring weather and the new leach field is operating efficiently. Dave also regraded the yard which looks amazing. Again, I can not thank Dave Campbell plumbing enough for the excellent work and I highly recommend his quality work."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Washington, PA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
