"Scheduling was easy and they came the same day. Kyle who serviced my water heater was efficient and pleasant plus he had a mask which I was pleased to see and I told him while he worked on his own on the heater I didn't mind if he took off the mask......he was very respectful of my wishes and always put his mask on while coming to talk to me. I was very pleased with the efficiency all around from this company and would use them again. I know that I rated the "value for my money a little low" but that was because I did feel it was a little more than I would expect for the job that had to be done. However, I was so pleased that they came and were efficient and easy to deal with that I could overlook that and would certainly use them again. Thank you Kyle and Proactive Comfort!!!"

"I finally got to build my dream garage to store all my tools and have a cool hangout on Friday nights with the boys n a couple coors. Chris came and did everything from the bathroom and the heating system. I will definitely be calling him back to add a mini split in the future. He was professional, punctual and clean. Very knowledgeable you can tell he cares about his clients."

"While we didnt hire them, the company contacted us right away and were available within an appropriate timeline. The coordinator was friendly and reassuring and had we not had someone lined up I would have felt very comfortable moving forward with this group. They were transparent about their pricing and displayed confidence in their capabilities."

Most professional HVAC technicians require two to three hours to complete an expansion valve replacement. The timeframe depends on your unit's accessibility and whether additional repairs are needed. The process involves recovering refrigerant, removing the old valve, installing the new component, and recharging the system. Scheduling during less busy seasons may result in more convenient appointment times.
Operating your air conditioner with a malfunctioning expansion valve isn't advisable. Continuing to run the system could potentially damage other components, particularly your compressor, which is significantly more expensive to replace. If you notice performance issues like inconsistent cooling or unusual noises, it's best to have your system inspected before continuing regular use.
Expansion valves don't have a standard replacement schedule, as their longevity depends on system usage, maintenance frequency, and environmental factors. Regular professional maintenance helps identify potential valve issues before they cause system failure. Having your HVAC system serviced annually allows technicians to monitor component condition and recommend preventative replacements when necessary.
Refrigerant leaks require prompt professional attention. If your expansion valve is leaking, you'll likely notice reduced cooling performance and possibly hear hissing sounds near the unit. Addressing leaks quickly prevents further system inefficiency and avoids the environmental impact of released refrigerant. Your HVAC technician will need to repair the leak and recharge the system with the proper refrigerant type and amount.
Because many AC issues present similar symptoms, professional diagnosis is recommended. Problems like inadequate cooling, inconsistent temperatures, or strange noises could indicate expansion valve issues, but might also stem from refrigerant leaks, electrical problems, or airflow restrictions. A qualified HVAC technician has the tools and expertise to accurately identify the root cause and recommend appropriate repairs.
