"The team was very responsive and communicated very well. Unfortunately the result of the diagnosis was that the appliance needed to be replaced and therefore no repair was completed. But the Knapp's team was very transparent and helpful through the process."

"Greg did awesome work and would definitely recommend him. Had to change plug from 4 prong to 3 prong, but found out wall receptacle was even still wrong and forced him to go get abother plug, but that was no ones fault due to old house. Once got plug done, quick and easy fix, now dryer up and running. Will definitely use Greg and Advanced Appliance for future issues."

"There was confusion about the time of their expected arrival.  We had scheduled a specific time for them to arrive since we had errands to run.  We returned home earlier than we expected, and had a message on our phone machine that was barely comprehensible.  Granted, the phone reception in our area is not great, but we could only discern that it was the plumber's people calling to say something about their arrival time, but we couldn't figure out the details.  At that same time, the doorbell rang.  They were early.  It was a good thing we were home earlier than we expected.  We took them to the garage, showed them the leak.  They poked at a few pipes and pretty quickly established that the problem was not in the plumbing, but was coming from the HVAC unit, so we needed to call an HVAC person to do the repair work, which we did.  We were disappointed to be charged not only a service charge (which we expected) of $35, but also a labor charge of $75.00, for just looking at the leak.  Fortunately, we had an Angie's coupon for half off the labor, so that lowered the total cost to $78.59, including tax.  We felt that was excessive, given the poor communication and the lack of any real "labor."  We still had to pay an HVAC person to come out and do the actual repair work.  We paid double that amount, but not only did he do the repair, but also checked all of the gas lines and appliances in the house--range, fireplace, water heater, barbecue grill, etc.  We feel that Simpson Plumbing used the Angie's coupon to gouge a customer, rather than honestly giving a discount for real labor.  We called Simpson Plumbing later that day to talk with a manager.  We left a message saying we wanted to talk about the charges, which we felt were unfair.  No one ever returned our call.
If we need some real plumbing work done, we will look elsewhere.  It was disappointing to have done the research on Angie's List, only to have someone treat us in this way.  Simpson had many positive reviews, but this was not our experience.

FAQs for appliance service projects in Vancouver, WA

Licensed appliance installation experts install gas appliances safely and correctly. They have specialized training for installing ranges, cooktops, and gas-powered dryers, ensuring code-compliant setups that will keep you and your family members safe when using your gas appliances. Licensed HVAC specialists and plumbers handle gas lines, secure connections, and verify that installations meet safety standards.

Yes, buying appliances in a bundle can save you money and reduce the cost per unit. Retailers often offer discounts when you purchase three or more appliances from the same brand together. This approach not only lowers your appliance expenses but also simplifies installation coordination, providing financial and scheduling benefits.

The best time to buy a new appliance is when your current one fails or during a renovation. Major shopping holidays like Black Friday and Labor Day offer seasonal sales with better discounts. Planning your purchase during these times helps you maximize savings and aligns with your home improvement plans.

When you buy a new appliance, many retailers will also remove and dispose of your old appliances when they come to install the new ones. To dispose of your old appliance yourself, start by safely disconnecting it. If it's no longer functional, you can recycle it. If it still operates safely, consider donating or selling it to recoup some value. Some retailers offer trade-in programs for discounts on new models. These options promote eco-friendly disposal and help reduce waste.
